Reebok selling already-sweaty T-shirt

Reebok’s “Authentic Sweat Shirt”Reebok.com

Did you see the story earlier this week about the “mud-stained” jeans being sold by Nordstrom for $425? Reebok did.

That’s why the Canton-based apparel company is suddenly selling a sweaty T-shirt — also for $425. Reebok seems to be mocking Nordstrom for its “Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans” that come caked in fake mud.

According to Reebok’s website, the red T-shirt, dubbed the “authentic sweat shirt,” was created by company employees “who always find time to sweat it out . . . We’re putting in the hard work for you and giving you a pre-sweated tee for that post-workout look and smell.”

A tongue-in-cheek description of the T-shirt says it’s been made with:

Authentic sweat for those who don’t have time to put in the real work.

Accurate placement of stains created by sweaty employees after workout for maximum visibility.

Reebok flack Dan Mazie said the company “certainly took a cue” from Nordstrom, but the intent of the shirt is to have some fun, not to taunt Nordstrom for its ridiculous jeans.

“We’re just showing that if you want to display signs of hard work and toughness, it really doesn’t take more than a little bit of effort,” Mazie said.

Oh, the T-shirt isn’t actually available at the moment because, Mazie says, it’s sold out.
