WPD: Driver suffered medical issue before hitting fountain in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A truck overturned during a wreck Monday in downtown Wilmington.

According to officials, the driver of the truck suffered a medical issue before hitting the Kenan Fountain at the intersection at 5th and Market streets at approximately 1:30 p.m. The truck went airborne, flipped over and slid about half of a block before striking a parked city bus

The driver of the truck was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Police officials say he is recovering and only suffered minor injuries.

There were three people on the bus but no one was injured.
