Acer has announced the world’s first convertible Chromebook with 13-inch display. At IFA 2016, Acer also showcased the world’s thinnest notebook powered by Intel’s 7th generation Core processor.
With Chromebook R 13, Acer has expanded its Chromebook lineup which already includes critically acclaimed Chromebook R11. Acer Chromebook R 13 features a 13.3-inch Full HD display and up to 12 hours of battery life. Acer Chromebook R 13 will also get the planned support for Android Apps via the Google Play Store later this year.
“The 13-inch touch display is large and vibrant, so it’s ideal for anything from homework and spreadsheets to games, video and fun apps. Plus, up to 12 hours of battery life means our customers can use it at school or work and continue using it into the evening for activities like homework and watching movies,” said James Lin, General Manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business at Acer.
Acer Chromebook R 13 can be used in four modes – laptop, pad, display and tent. The 13.3-inch display comes with 10-point touch support ideal for tap, swipe and pinch-to-zooom gestures. The laptop is powered by a MediaTek CorePilot quad-core processor. Acer Chromebook R 13 comes with 4GB RAM and option of 16 or 32 or 64GB eMMC storage.
Acer Chromebook R 13 features USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. It also offers regular USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI. microphone and headphone jacks. Chromebook is the most easiest way to access Google services like Gmail, Docs, Drive, YouTube to name a few.

Acer Chromebook R 13 starts at $399 and will be available in North America in October. Acer has not unveiled its Chromebooks in India and there is little chance of this one making its way down here.
