A weekend of calm before the storm and a couple of days rest with unusually no Saturday Wolverhampton meeting last week or in the coming week. But we do have 7 meetings to look forward to including the first of Southwell’s winter cards. The same Southwell that played host to prepping Aiden O’Brien’s Breeders Cup success!

It must be said that British horse racing can take a great deal of pride in the handful of representatives that turned out over the Friday and Saturday at Santa Anita in terms of winners and one twos.

On Friday Wolverhampton once again suffered with inconsistencies in the surface and another couple of points lost. Meanwhile over the Irish Sea there was some order at Dundalk at some great opportunities.

Apologies to those who have voice their opinion on this style of analysis but I am hoping I will win you around.

As there was little to choose between Hes Our Music (8-1) and Enigma Code other than the weakness of the latter to the left and right of the expected ‘Pace and Going’ I took them both.

Due to the lack of form in the race I took Valley Queen (8-1) along with Secret Locket

And the biggest certainty of the day with almost a clean sweep Home Secretary (6-1) was in fact 14’s on the exchanges when I placed my bet and the commentary made me believe that the late lunge as it weaved through the pack wasn’t enough to take the prize. I only became aware that it had won when entering the results!

Unfortunately there are no such opportunities on today's Wolverhampton card with the strongest contenders coming in the form of two shorties in BURREN VIEW LADY and SPACE ARTIST in the 3:55 and BECAUSEWECAN and LOCHIEL in the 5:55.
