Who doesn't love Demons, Angels, Battle-Cats, Valkyries, Werewolves, PumaShifters, and Shifters of any type? You find something you like in this group! I read 4 new authors in this anthology! I've been a Lia Davis fan for almost a year, I have many Carrie Ann Ryan books, but keep running out of time to start one of the series. But I've found a new author to follow in this group! I loved the passion and comedy in Alpha Rising. Great banter back and forth between a strong female and the handsome stranger she is attracted to. Give it a try, our favorites may not be the same, but I'm sure you will find something you like!

His Choice (Dante's Circle #3.5) by Carrie Ann Ryan
Fawkes has reached the age of choice - he as to decide if he wants to be a soul stealing demon like his father, Lucifer or will he seek out love from his true half? He goes to the Earth realm to decide. While staying with friends he meets Leslie. Her brother has done a number on her and she has become a wolf afraid of violence. Fawkes is drawn to her, but afraid she will fear his violent side. What will happen when he shows it?
Favorite quote: "Stop feeling sorry for yourself and find something to live for. If you don't, then what was the point of making your choice."

Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte
For 50 years Eira has failed to get a rise out of her goddess’s guardians. The guardians, two battle-cat shifters, have been through everything together and met over 300 years ago - and both want Eira, but the goddess has asked them to wait. What will it take to brake the hold keeping the three apart?

Alpha Rising (A Fallen Alpha #0.5) by Rebecca Royce
Lilliana has had a hard life. Her mother died a year ago leaving her with huge debt. She has lost 5 jobs in the last year. Could it get worse? She just has these odd behaviors every now and again ... what she doesn't know is why. All of that is about to change when she meets Travis Michaels. Now she wishes she hadn't sworn off men for 12 months - how will she last? There is such chemistry and trust - now she really thinks she is going nuts.
Favorite quote: How long did humans like to date before they moved in with other humans? He'd give Lilliana two days.

A Rebel's Heart (Ashwood Falls 3.5) by Lia Davis
Sarah has been struggling without her mate for 5 years. All her children are grown and with their own families now. She is ready to give up. Until she gets a death threat - go figure. Now she is fighting back for her life and for love.
Favorite quote: "I'll take my chances. I was you, Sarah. I've always wanted you."

Destined for Eden (Shadows of Destiny #5.5) by Leia Shaw
Eden is a lone werewolf in a shifter colony. She has never fit in. Dalton is a shifter (preferring a grizzly bear or bird-hawk/falcon). He had his heart crushed three years ago and has never recovered. They have a great argumentative loving banter between them even though they just met. What happens when they are thrown together in a rebel mission to save their colony?
Favorite quote: "Heel?" he said, taking a step toward her. "Did you really just tell me to heel?"

NUMBER OF HEARTS: Over all 4 1/2
REVIEW:
All reviews of each novella will be short and sweet just like the stories.

His Choice by Carrie Ann Ryan:
I loved Fawkes & Leslie’s story. But like any good novella I really wish the story was longer. I would have love to see more interaction between Fawkes & Leslie. If you have not read any of Carrie Ann’s Dante’s Circle book never fear you can read His Choice by itself, but I would encourage you to start from the beginning.

Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte:
This was my first Marie Harte story and as I started Beasts of Burden I was excited about the world she created. What I was not expecting was the M/M/F relationship. I guess I didn’t read the blurb very well. But that being said I enjoyed this novella and will be add Marie to my read list.

Alpha Rising by Rebecca Royce:
Again this was my first Rebecca Royce story and I loved it. I so love Travis. He is a total Alpha but goes all soft for his mate. I am really excited to see where this new series goes and will be adding Rebecca’s to my must read list. Also can’t wait to see what is in store for the Cryus and his sister Lake (I know what an awesome name for a heroine right?)

A Rebel’s Heart by Lia Davis:
Again my first Lia Davis book. I have the other Ashwood books, but have not read yet after reading A Rebel’s Heart I am very much looking forward to going back and reading the series from the beginning. I really loved Damian & Sarah. Damian is a very sweet, selfless man and I am so glad that he finally got what he has always wanted. Sarah has has so much heartbreak over the years I am glad that it looks like she will have her happily ever after finally.

Destined for Eden by Leia Shaw:
Again this was another first read. I really loved Dalton & Eden. Both have been burned in the past by people they cared about. But when they meet something shifts between them. I really enjoyed the Eden was so strong, independent and determined despite the hand the life has dealt her. I am looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the Shadows of Destiny series.

If you are looking for some great novella reads I would highly recommend you put Ever After on your to purchase watch list. It is very much worth it.

This book was received free with the request for an honest review. The review is long, but I feel it only fair to invest my time in being thorough since I didn’t have to invest money in buying the book.

Ever After is a paranormal romance anthology. On one hand, I love anthologies because they give you an opportunity to try out new authors in small bursts, rather than committing to an entire novel. If you are like me and can’t bear to not finish a book, not matter whether or not you really like it, that can be a big mark in the pro column. They also can introduce you to existing series, or you can get in on the ground floor of new series. On the other hand, I sometimes find anthologies frustrating because being introduced to those existing series can feel like being dropped into the middle of a story. Some authors are much more adept than others at briefly setting the stage so that you understand enough of what is going on to appreciate the story, but no so much that it gives away major spoilers for previous books. The length of the short stories in anthologies varies; I much prefer the less number, longer story version. Every After is a 5-story anthology, all by authors I’ve never read. I found this book to be a mix of the anthology pros and cons.

His Choice, by Carrie Ann Ryan is a novella in her Dante’s Circle series. Fawkes, son of Lucifer, has reached the age when he needs to decide if he is going to spend his live on the side of good or evil. If he chooses good, he will slowly begin to die unless he finds his true mate. If he chooses evil, he’ll spend eternity collecting human souls. He finds his potential mate in Leslie, a submissive wolf who after a betrayal by her brother is trying to find her way in her pack. I felt a little bit like I was missing some key plot points from earlier books, but not enough to make this story too confusing to follow. I liked the characters, and really liked that there was some passage of time. I get tired of novels where after three days the hero and heroine are pledging eternal love. The big problem with this one was an overabundance of typos! There were others in the book, but holey moley were they prevalent in this story.

Beasts of Burden, by Marie Harte, is the start of a new series. This one features Eira, a Valkyrie in service to the goddess Freya. She has an unexplainable attraction to two of Freya’s guards, Hall and Avarr. Little does she know the guards have an equal fascination with her, but have been forbidden for a time from pursuing her by Freya. This story introduces the concept of the Games of the Gods, allowed only at certain times to entertain the gods and goddesses. I assume the upcoming books will feature the games in some way. The main story, however, circles around Eira, Hall and Avarr.

Rebecca Royce’s novella Alpha Rising is the beginning of her new Fallen Apha’s series. Lilliana is a waitress who has been different from others all of her life and doesn’t understand why. Travis is a werewolf pack leader who knows exactly why Lilliana is different, and he aims to take her as his mate. Unfortunately there are forces at work (aren’t there always??) to keep them apart. This was one of my favorites. There is action, romance and the introduction of a number of characters that I hope get their own books.

A Rebel’s Heart is part of Lia Davis’ Ashwood Falls series. Sarah is a shifter who has lost several mates, the latest 5 years ago in a car accident that also took her best friend. Her children are grown, and she’s tired of mourning. She’s ready to start aging and end her life naturally. Damian, Sarah’s friend, actually survived the car accident and has been secretly working against those who would like to eradicate their race. When an attempt is made on Sarah’s life Damian must come out of hiding, and decides to profess his love to Sarah as well. Sarah isn’t sure she can survive another mating. This is another good story, with a nice pace and enough background that you understand where you are in the timeline.

Destined for Eden, by Lea Shaw, a novella in her Shadows of Destiny series. Eden is a werewolf raised by shifters (there is an important and distinct difference in this series). There is a supernatural war brewing, and Eden is on the side of the resistance. For her first mission she is paired with Dalton, a seasoned resistance veteran, who resents being paired with a novice. Their mission is to travel to the werewolf compound to try and get the wolves to join the resistance. Most of the story is about their travels, and Dalton slowing coming to understand and respect Eden. Of all the stories this one was my favorite. Both characters are scarred in their own ways, and seeing them each realize there can be a happily ever after is a treat.

Overall this is an enjoyable anthology and I recommend it.

Anthologies always make me nervous. I know it’s a good way to sample an author’s work to see if you’d like to pick up more of their books. Usually for me there’s only one or two of the featured novellas I like. All of these stories in this particular anthology have good elements in each, but this time around there’s something else that’s left me chomping at the bit – every one of them is part of a continuing series by each respective author, and they all leave the reader hanging with no resolution, other than the main characters are now together. Whatever event is on the horizon in the series is still sitting there, to be continued and/or completed in the next however many books. Since I’ve not read any of these series, I ended up a bit antsy that I was left hanging in most instances. However, that doesn’t take away from what these talented authors do give their fans.

His Choice (Dante’s Circle, Book 3.5) by Carrie Ann Ryan

I enjoyed the theme of this series and this novella – one of Lucifer’s son’s has decided to carve out his own destiny, not wanting to be the soul-consuming demon his father wants of him but to search for his true half and live out his life in happiness and love. I like Fawkes, if for nothing else but defying the devil himself, then it’s his tenderness that lurks beneath the surface. When he goes to the earth realm to stay with werewolf friends, he learns what family means and he does find his true half in Leslie, a submissive she-wolf.

Leslie abhors violence, despite her nature. Her brother was quite abusive in his quest for power, and thankfully he lost that bid, which has allowed Leslie to live in peace with other wolves who treat her like family. When Fawkes arrives to stay with the pack, she knows he’s the one for her, but the demon refuses to make a move. Discovering that’s because he’s afraid of her reaction to his innate violence, she finds out very quickly there’s no way her life will be completely free of that violence, and she needs to learn to live with that.

I’m a big werewolf fan, so I’m glad to see this story take place in a pack. I do like a lot of the other wolves I met, but that being said, I never felt a connection to Fawkes and Leslie. They’re likable enough, but there just needs to be more from them and between them to make that connection, and that’s one of the dangers of a novella – too short to bring everything together cohesively. But I do like the fact they talk one another; however, some of the dialogue is a bit over the top as far erotic goes. Also, some of the writing is a bit choppy at times, trying to fill in information from previous books, which bogs the pacing down. I usually don’t comment on errors in ARCs, because there’s going to be some no matter what, but the number here is just too much. I was pulled out of the story way too often, mostly trying to figure out what word is omitted or figuring out what is meant when the wrong word is used. It seems almost as if the publisher took exactly what the author gave them and slapped it in an ARC just to get it done, with no proofreading whatsoever. Not a good practice at all.

All that being said, this story does make me curious about other characters in the series. I hope to some day pick some of them up to remedy that curiosity.

Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte

Being a shapeshifter fan, I had fun with these two larger-than-life battle-cats who protect the goddess Freya. They stand guard and according to Eria, a Valkyrie who needs a man more powerful than she is, that’s all Hall and Avarr do. Attracted to them she may be, but they’d never be able to keep her satisfied or controlled. They’ve wanted Eira for eons, but Freya has always held them back, claiming it’s not time.

That time finally comes when the pair come upon Eira battling it out with visiting creatures. They step in to help, and that leads to some steamin’, smokin’, sizzlin’ hot sex, not only between the three of them, but Hall and Avarr have a pretty good time together themselves. But at least now Eira can put to rest any doubts she may have had about these two shifters. There’s a lot of characters to keep straight when the gods get together, but at this point those are short scenes, so you get just a taste of the whole gang.

Of the four authors in this anthology, Marie Harte is the only one I’ve read before. Though it’s been a while since I’ve picked up one of her books, I enjoyed the smooth writing and lusty characters. This is the first book in Marie Harte’s new series and it will be interesting to see what happens with the gods and their games.

Alpha Rising (Fallen Alpha, Book 0.5) by Rebecca Royce

At this point I’m loving the fact there’s more werewolves to be had in this story from Rebecca Royce. Lilliana is a latent wolf, one who doesn’t even know she’s a wolf. She has some odd behavior that pops up every now and again and she doesn’t know why. On top of all of that, her mom died a year ago, leaving a mountain of debt, and Lilliana has lost five jobs recently. Having found work with the kindest woman on the planet, she’s determined to do everything right and keep this job.

That’s when Travis Michaels walks into the diner and throws Lilliana’s world off its axis. At first Travis doesn’t have time for a woman – he’s got a war to help fend off with rival packs – but Lilliana is his mate, and when Cyrus Fennell shows up, Travis will be damned if he’ll allow that wolf anywhere near her. But Cyrus causes all kinds of havoc and it will take everything Travs has got to keep a step ahead and Lilliana from chewing him up and spitting him out when she discovers exactly what she and her wolf can do. That’s when her world rights itself and understanding sets in.

I really enjoyed Travis and Lilliana. She turns out to be a strong heroine who grows into her wolf and will walk proudly by her alpha mate’s side. I also like the twist at the end with a villain you don’t expect.

A Rebel’s Heart (Ashwood Falls, Book 3.5) by Lia Davis

This is the story that really made me want more of the series. Sarah is a mountain lion, and she lost her mate five years ago, her children are now grown and on their own – she has nothing left to live for. But when the cat who was supposed to have died with her mate is suddenly very much alive, Sarah has not only her children to deal with but also Damian Palmer.

Damian barely made it to Sarah to protect her from a human rebel group that’s out to destroy all shapeshifters. He’d never meant to reveal himself, but now that Sarah knows about him, this is his chance to claim her as his mate. He has his work cut out for him, because Sarah still loves her children’s father and she’s begun to age, but he won’t let that deter him.

When danger is so very close, Sarah finally realizes she needs to latch on and live again, that’s what her deceased mate would expect of her. I like that Damian doesn’t give up, even in the face of wolf children protecting their mother. But even they come around, knowing Damian is just what Sarah needs. The only thing that bothers me is no resolution other than their coming together. I want more than knowing there’s danger still waiting in the wings.

Destined for Eden (Shadows of Destiny, Book 5.5) by Leia Shaw

I have to say that this novella is my favorite of the book. I love Eden. She was abandoned as a child and taken in by a shifter colony, despite the fact she’s just a wolf…all other shifters are above her. Though she’s never totally fit in, she’s always upbeat and optimistic. When she’s given the opportunity to help the colony in the brewing war, she’s excited to finally be included. Even if she has to work with shifter Dalton whose only emotion toward her seems to a condescending attitude.

He’s used to working on his own, as his semi-celebrity status attests. He’s the one taking down evil, and now this little bit of fluff, this she-wolf, is close to taking him down. He shouldn’t feel this way after the disaster of his last relationship years ago, but as they make their way to a pack in the United States, watching Eden keep her cool and schmoozing their way in to see the alpha to convince him he and his pack are needed in Wales only makes him want her that much more.

Little by little Eden pulls Dalton back into living life for other things other than the war that needs waging. I don’t usually do a favorite line in my reviews – there’s too many good ones in most books – but during Dalton’s tries at shifting into a wolf – his usual shift is into either a bear or a bird – Eden calls him to task, his response is:

“Heel?” he said, taking a step toward her. “Did you really just tell me to heel?”

I laughed for quite a while after that.

This is one of those times that I’m afraid to read any other books because they may not stand up to what works so well here, but then again it’s the time to have faith in the author’s talent. I’m definitely going with the latter.

Carrie Ann Ryan~ His Choice
I am so glad that we get to see Fawkes get his story; we meet Fawkes in Book 2 after he helps the triad and hunter escape from hell. A longtime friend of Bailin he knows that he doesn't have to follow in his father’s footsteps, which happens to be the Devil himself, and instead become a Demon of good just as Bailin has. But now that he has chosen the path of good and humanity what is helping to do now, he needs a mate or he will die.

Leslie is one tortured soul all because he brother was a power hungry wolf. After being rid of his torturous reign over her she now has to decide what she wants to do with her life and what kind of wolf she wants to become.

When two very lost souls find each other and finally find hope you can't help but be elated that two of our favorite side characters in the Dante's Circle series find each other.

I give His Choice 5 out of 5, and I am very happy that Carrie Ann gave Fawkes and Leslie their story.

Marie Harte~ Beasts of Burden
I loved this short story! I have never read anything by Marie Harte but I am now a fan after reading this very different take on some old mythology. I looked to see if this novella was part of a series because I loved it so much and to my excitement this novella is the first in her brand new series.
I love Eira, feisty& strong, she needs a man that’s stronger than her or she will never feel fulfilled. What she never imagined was the two men that always stirred her were stronger and more powerful than she ever thought she needed. Can she handle the powerful cats and what happens when they break the rules?
I give Beasts of Burden 5 out of 5, and I am excited for this new series and I can’t wait to dive into this world she has created.

Rebecca Royce~ Alpha Rising
I had to add this Author to my “Authors to be on the lookout for” cause this novella had me captivated and begging for the whole series to pop out of Rebecca’s head and onto my kindle immediately. Basically I can sum up this novella in one word, Intriguing!!! I want to know what is going to happen next.
In just a short novella we met some unforgettable characters and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens with them. I give Alpha Rising 5 out of 5.
Lia Davis~ A Rebel’s Heart
I have never read any of the Ashwood books before so this was my first introduction to the series and Lia Davis. I was a little confused with all the characters having not read anything in the series before, but I was happy I got to see Damian & Sarah have their happy ending. From the little back story I got in this novella I imagined that their love was one that was always “the wrong place the wrong time” type of love and I am always a fan of happy ever after.
I wish I would have read the Ashwood series in reading order but since I didn’t I am curious and I want to go back and read the whole series in order. I give A Rebel’s Heart 4 out of 5 and can’t wait to read the whole series.

Leia Shaw~ Destined for Eden
This was my first time reading Leia Shaw’s work. This novella is part of her Shadows of Destiny series and I am sad that I didn’t read the other books first only because I feel like there was so much more to this world and I have missed out on it, so I am going to go back and read all of them now. As far and Dalton & Eden, I liked them together, I especially loved Eden’s strength and her determined nature.
I give Destined for Eden 4 out of 5 and I am looking forward to going back and reading the whole series.

Overall I loved Ever After as a whole and I loved the Introductions to new authors and series for me.

GENRE: Romance
THEME: Paranormal, Mature, and Shifters
RECEIVED: Authors

Ever After is an anthology packed full of supernatural romance that sets the pages on fire with the heat from each story. I usually stray from reading anthologies because I never feel I get enough of the storyline to get involved with the characters, but these five authors know how to hook line and sinker with their storytelling.

The first story is by an author whom I’ve read before Carrie Ann Ryan, she focuses on her Dante’s Circle series, that’s full of wolves, demons and angels. Fawke is the son of the devil and has chosen not to follow in his father’s footsteps. His friend Hunter takes him in to his pack, where he meets Leslie, a wolf who is broken and may be the key to his happiness. I loved this story and really want to know how the other characters I was introduced too had met. I’ll definitely be starting this series from the beginning; it had some intense romance and interesting plots.

Second was Marie Harte, Beats of Burden, which is set in Asgard and the Goddess Freya and her people are focused on. After just watching the movie Thor, I was hyped to start this storyline. I was a little surprised on the romance side but it was extremely hot and super sexy. The story follows Eira a Valkyrie who is known for her fascination with Freya’s two guards Avarr and Hall, which are feline shifters who are intense and overpowering. She doesn’t realize what she’s in for after teasing the two for so long.

Third is by author Rebecca Royce who has officially awaked my love for werewolf stories again, I’m definitely going to be continuing this new series. Alpha Rising follows Lilliana, who doesn’t know that she has a wolf side to her persona, but when she meets Travis, the alpha of her city, she discovers the other side of herself. But with a rival pack ready to take over, Travis will do anything to protect his mate.

Fourth is by the wonderful Lia Davis, I just finished the third book in her series and was easily sucked into the world of the Ashwood Falls shifters once again. A Rebels Heart follows Sarah Mathews, after losing her mate and her children now being grown up, she feels like giving up. But when a close friend returns from the dead and claims she’s his mate, her life seems to be starting over. I loved Sarah and Damian’s story and hope to read about them in the future books.

Lastly Leia Shaw’s Destined for Eden, a story within her Shadow’s of destiny series. I’ve read the first two and they were seriously great. I highly recommend starting this series from the beginning because it’s that good. I loved the spunk and humor of the characters and Dalton is just one big hunk of a shifter. I loved the chemistry between him and Eden, and can’t wait to jump back into this series to read more about them.

Overall this was one smoking hot anthology and each story is a quick read that you can jump into easily even if you haven’t read the series on some. I look forward to seeing where each of these characters goes from here.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult novella with sexual content meant for mature readers. Fans of any Urban Fantasies and Paranormal Romances will enjoy getting a sneak peek into each of these series and their talented authors.

In this is packed together some terrific authors with their own unique style of writing that as you read through each one of these delectable morsels you will be left scrambling to find more from each one of them. Each one of these is a quick bite of variety to satisfy anyone's hunger for passion and love associated with paranormal romance and those who we would love to run our fingers through there hair as our own. I personally do not read long and drawn out reviews and being that these are so hot and sweet and go down oh so good did not want this for this book by going into each one. We all have our favorites but after reading this one if not familiar as I was not with 2 of the authors smacked my head and for having waited so long. Whomever made the choice of these in one cover certainly knew their business. You get something more from the authors and their series that have introduced you to their worlds and those who live and love there. With their gift of writing keeps on growing and involving perfectly and as a reader that is why we keep returning, just can't get enough you might say. The magic used in their writing that heats us up with the passion,they turn on our desire switch with the interaction between the characters they have breathed life into,be it returning or new ones. Also nice to read what had happened while away from them. A nice treat is also in this book dessert you might say we get to be introduced to a new series 2 Alpha's on the brink of war. Of course though can anyone guess what could put that war on the back burner if allowed? In this book it centers I thought more on the passion and the heat between those involved and the potential to become one and how that comes into being in the relationships. Mind you love all things that go into a genre of this type-danger and the intensity of it, the clashes between races and packs etc. and even when that sometimes leads to death. But this was more focused on the love aspect and that was the refreshing aspect of this. Just make sure though it might be refreshing but cool refreshments will still be needed nearby so not to be a headliner on the nightly news or post on today's fb as being said you went up in flames.

***Received from Fated Desires for an honest review***

Oh, wow! This was an amazing set of stories by five fantastic authors.

Though each story is set in the paranormal genre, each is unique in every way imaginable, and took me from Hell to the immortal realm Asgard to places within the United States. The attraction between these strong men and sexy women simmered then exploded into fiery passion when each couple finally came together intimately for the first time. The strength and depth of what they felt for each other–concern, like, love, want, need—made that passion so much more believable and damn near tangible.

But it wasn’t just the unfolding romance between each couple that made these stories so enjoyable for me to read. It was each author’s ability to put into words, and in such terrific detail, what was going on, what the characters saw, what they felt, that really pulled me in. I don’t want to a read story where I feel disconnected from everything that’s going on; I want to get lost in the plot and be in the character’s shoes as they go through the highs and lows until they reach that happy ending they deserve. And I was able to do just that in each of these stories.

~~~
“I came out of hell not knowing what I would do, what choice I would make, but there really wasn’t a choice for me. I don’t to live my life without the other half of my soul.”
- Fawkes, His Choice by Carrie Ann Ryan
~~~

“Would you really beg me to save them?”

Valkyrie didn’t beg. They didn’t surrender. But for her battle-cats, Eira made an exception. “Yes. Please, Freya. Save them.”
-Freya and Eira, Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte

~~~
How long did humans like to date before they moved in with other humans? He’d give Lilliana two days. The wolf side of her couldn’t need more than that to recognize they were supposed to be together. More would just be ridiculous.
- Travis, Alpha Rising by Rebecca Royce
~~~

Then suddenly she felt it–the buried need to be desired and claimed by this male as his.
-Sarah, A Rebel’s Heart by Lia Davis

~~~
“I see you, little wolf.”
-Dalton, Destined for Eden by Leia Shaw
His Choice(Dante's Circle) by Carrie Ann Ryan. Fawkes a demon warrior and son of Lucifer. He has to decide to follow his father's footsteps or find his one true-half.
Leslie is a submissive wolf, who having trouble within the pack after the near war her brother brought to the pack.
Fawkes and Leslie are true mates, they finally found each other while Fawkes is visiting Hunter and Becca.
Together they will help each other and become better for it.
Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte. Was a short story but fast paced but it was freaking HOT, I loved it. This is the first book I've read from the author and she has gained a new reader of her books. Look forward to more.
Alpha's Rising(Fallen Alpha World) by Rebecca Royce. This was another first book I've read from this author, and I am hooked. I really loved this new series. I can not wait for the next one.
A Rebel's Heart(Ashwood Falls) by Lia Davis. Sarah Matthews still feels the pain from losing her mate five years ago. But then comes Damian Palmer back into her life after thinking he was dead along with her mate.
Damian has come back to protect Sarah and finally claim her as his true mate. He has loved Sarah for years but stepped aside for his best friend. Sarah doesn't think there is anything to live for anymore and had started the aging process a year she lost her mate. But now that Damian is back, he is stirring intense feelings again and he is determined to help her and see that life is worth living with love and a true mate by your side.
I enjoyed reading A Rebel's Heart. It was short and sweet, but very hot. I can't wait for the next book.
Destined for Eden(Shadows of Destiny) by Leia Shaw. This is the first book I've read from this author and I am hooked. I like this series so far, now just gotta catch up. Look forward to reading more from this author.
I never have real high expectations with books that have various authors but this book was freaking great. I loved all the short stories in it. And new books to read.
This is a great anthology of five paranormal stories by Carrie Ann Ryan, Rebecca Royce, Lia Davis, and Marie Hart.
In His Choice, a Dante’s Circle story, Fawkes one of Lucifer’s sons has a life decision to make. Meeting his mate, Leslie, a traumatized submissive wolf could make all the difference in the world to him. There was a couple of misses in the dialogue that I stumbled over, but they were minor and did not take away from this unique world that the author has created.
In Beasts of Burden, a standalone story, Eira, a Valkyrie, is attacked at a gathering of the gods and goddesses and is rescued by her mates, Hall and Avarr, battlecats that protect Freya. There is lots of hot and steamy sex in this mythological world created by Marie Harte with unique twists that keep the reader well engaged and entertained.
In Alpha Rising, a Fallen Alpha story, Rebecca Royce introduces a new world of shifters as the Alpha of the Pennsylvania Pack meets his mate, Lilliana, while trying to negotiate peace with the alpha of another pack. Along with the hot scenes, this story has lots of tension and suspense that keeps the reader intrigued.
In A Rebel’s Heart, a story in the Ashwood Falls series, the reader is once again drawn deeper into the drama of this shifter town. The Onyx Pack’s attacks have caused mayhem and more damage with their attacks than even they know as Nevan & Graham’s mom, Sarah is attacked and an old friend, Damian shows up to protect her.
In Destined for Eden, a Shadows of Destiny story, Lia Davis has once again created a unique paranormal world that entertains the reader with its magical drama, action and suspense.
Each of these stories had strong and bewitching main characters and secondary characters. Although they could have been longer, the stories and worlds created by the authors are imaginative and entertaining. And I am looking forward to reading more by each of these authors.
I had to get this book because I fell in love with Fawkes in Her Warriors Three Wished and I have an obsession with the Dante's Circle Series.
What would you do if everyone who wanted you only wanted you to fulfill their own needs and desires?
Leslie has been through hell on earth over the past year. Her brother tried to force her into a mating with their packs Beta named Hunter only to have it blow up in his face when she revealed the location where they were hiding Becca his true mate. Leslie's brother would have been happy to have taken her life for her betrayal to him. The other pack members wanted to use her for mating because of her bloodline and then throw her away. Damaged did not even come close to describe how Leslie felt about herself.
Fawkes was spawn of the devil, literally. It was his destiny to walk on earth taking millions of souls devouring the human race. His birthday was coming up and he had a choice to make. Did he become his father's ultimate soul catcher or was there another option. Fawkes saw his demon friend Balin find his true mates and escape the bowels of hell. Could he be that lucky and where would he start to look for her?
The thing about destiny is that no matter what you do you can never tell when it will sneak up on you.
Carrie Ann Ryan is masterful when it come to character development. Your heart can't help but break for Leslie and what she has been through and you really do hope that Fawkes can find his other half. She does and excellent job at packing a ton of spice with action adventure in this shorter novella. I reads just like a full length novel, and you do not feel like you are missing anything. I am hoping to see more of Fawkes and Leslie in Tangled Innocence coming next year. Thank Goddess that I have the Redwood Pack Series to hold me over for until then.
If you like a sinfully sexy story that will have you panting like a wolf, then you will love Ever After.
I have an issue with writing reviews to these types of books since I don’t want to write too much become a spoiler…
This is an excellent compilation of short stories by a variety authors. Like with any books that are similar to this it gives you a great variety of author and it gives you the opportunity to meet new to you authors.
The stories I really looking forward to read in this book were Carrie Ann’s His Choice and Lia Davis’s A Rebel Heart. They are both a part of two different series the only thing is I wish they were both a bit longer but not anything less than great editions to the series.
His Choice is Fawkes story, from the Dante Circle series. This was short but I wish it would have been longer and more in depth about Fawkes and Leslie interaction and such.
A Rebel’s Heart is a part of Ashwood Falls series and is about Damian & Sarah. Sarah was hurt
Another great edition to the series and I just wish it was a bit longer but other than that it was a great book to read.
If you haven’t read any of either of these series then after reading them it may make you want to read the others in this great series (ok, all of Carrie Ann Ryan and Lia Davis are great books to read….)
The others Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte, Alpha Rising by Rebecca Royce and Destined for Eden by Leia Shaw were great books to read.
I received the book for an honest review, thank you. I can honestly say the book was a 4.5 star read.
My review will be on my blog and will be a part of the book spotlight
This anthology had 5 amazing books by 5 wonderful authors. Werewolves, demons, Valkyries, battle cats oh my can it get any better?
With the first book you get Carrie Ann Ryan's Dante's Circle book 3.5. Fawkes and Leslie. He's the son of the devil while she's a wolf who needs to be claimed. The details Miss Ryan is famous for in her novels is still present even in her short novellas. AMAZING.
The next is Marie Harte's Beasts of Burden. Eira is a Valkyrie who falls for two battle cars Hall and Avarr. But the two beasts must claim each other before they can be ready to mate with Eira. HAWT sexy read. Seriously!!!
Rebecca Royce shows us how an alpha handles it when his mate is taken in Alpha Rising. Travis was ready to take down an entire rival pack to get his mate Lilliana back. Who doesn't want a man willing to risk it all to save his one? Lol
In Lia Davis's A Rebel's Heart Sarah Matthews has lost her mate and is ready to give up until her best friend and the man who's always loved her comes back to claim her. Damian knew Sarah was his true mate. This is set outside her Ashwood Falls series and truly tugs at the heart:)
Leia Shaw's Destined For Eden is one of the sweetest sexiest short reads. Eden with her quirky sense of humor hides her insecurity while Dalton is just the big bad shifter to see through it and realize she's worth more than any of them thought. I loved this story and can't wait to read more.
Ever After was a wonderful Anthology. It was filled with everything Paranormal from werewolves, shifters, cat- shifters, Gods and Goddesses, Demons and more. 5 great authors came together and each had their on book in the Ever After Anthology. This was a Fun read, filled with Romance and action but also a hot, steamy read. Most of the males were Alpha Males in each book, strong, powerful, sexy,and passionate. Most of the books were part of a series, that I can't wait to read more of each series. These authors did an excellent job of coming up with a wonderful Anthology. I highly recommend. I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.My review can be found at http://booksbooksmorebooks.blogspot.c...
I received this book from Goodreads Giveaways for an honest review. I have never read any of these authors before. I will admit I mainly wanted to read this book for Carrie Ann Ryan's story, which was amazing, but I ended up loving all the other stories in the book as well. I love anthologies they're one of my favorite things to read, but usually there's one story in the book that leaves me disappointed. That didn't happen this time, all the short stories were well written and left me wanting to read more. I will definitely be putting more of these authors books on TBR wishlist. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys their romance with a bit of the paranormal in it.
In the name of full disclosure: I only read Leia Shaw's story, Destined for Eden.
Destined for Eden was a short, light read with lots of funnies, some sexy, some action, and Leia Shaw's signature - the little bit of deep life lessons she likes to throw into all of her books.
When/if I read the rest of the stories, I will update this review.
His Choice by Carrie Ann Ryan
I loved Fawkes and Leslie. After meeting her in "An Unlucky Moon" I hoped she'd get her HEA! I had looked forward to seeing more of Fawkes after "Her Warriors' Three Wishes." For them to be together and grow stronger and happier it was amazing!
Beasts of Burden by Marie Harte
I liked this story. It's an interesting take on the different gods and their stories. The battle-cats were my favorite, and I like how they finally got their woman after having to wait so long. I look forward to more in this series.
