In recognition of Close the Gap Day the City held a morning tea to discuss how we can move towards closing the gap, and create greater equality for Aboriginal people in Australia.

Special guests included Noongar Radio host Phil Walley-Stack and local Noongar artist Jade Dolman, who the City commissioned to create an artwork for Close the Gap Day.

The artwork, pictured below, is an excerpt from Dolman's Boodjar Nakolak Yanginy (Sharing the Knowledge of the Land). The blue represent the old waterways, which once had a rich biodiversity of plants and animals, the green is the land and warm colours are the people and animals. The black dot in the top left represents the location of the City of Vincent offices. 

Following the morning tea, Noongar artist Sharyn Egan discussed her temporary art installation ‘Seven Sisters’ at Keith Frame Reserve, in front of the Vincent Administration Centre. The art piece marks the start of Harmony Week and will remain until 13 April.
