Changing Tide

Rate this book
For Jack Lewis love comes from unexpected places…so does tragedy. When David arrived on Vancouver Island, he was just another tourist looking to charter a boat. A few hours on the water together proves he is more than that. As a world traveler, David is a man of mystery who has been everywhere and seen everything.

Attraction draws them together but an attempt at a meaningless fling fails one touch at a time when Jack feels more than he thought he would. The love affair sparks fear in David and jealousy in Emerson, the man who frequents Jack’s bed in a relationship that is all sex and no soul.

At odds with the men in his life Jack tries to talk David into staying and Emerson into going. The attempt sends things spinning out of control and he struggles with the consequences that could leave him empty handed.

I was in the mood for different, and this was definitely different. I wasn't sure how is was going to end with a HEA because my pages were running out and nothing was settled. I was almost expecting a cliffy, but thankfully that didn't happen.

Sort of a love triangle, but not. Emerson was never a love interest for Jack, just a no-strings attached fling...at least he thought so anyway. Emerson was one confused boy. He lied and lied, but sadly he believed his own lies and that was his downfall. I didn't expect what happened to him at the end, and I was bummed. Not that it ruined the story, but more that the pain-in-the-ass kid, even though he was delusional, didn't deserve it.

David is just broken. He doesn't want any strings because he had love before and lost it, and no way is he willing to go there again. Unfortunately, he didn't expect Jack to suddenly appear in life, dredging up those loving feelings, and that just confuses him even more. Will he stay or will he go?? That's the problem but he won't allow a little thing called love to hold him down. Love might not be enough to keep him in one place long enough for him and Jack to see if they might have a future.

Jack is trying to end a loveless fuck buddy fling with Emerson when he meets David. David, he knows, is transient but he can't deny his growing feelings. Unfortunately, Emerson is a roadblock that just won't take no for an answer and go away. And Jack is just way too stupid in how he handles him. I liked Jack a lot but he has issues and even though I don't blame him for what happened to Emerson, I do think he was definitely part of the problem.

A good story; a love triangle that wasn't about love..at first, but one of wanting what you can't have, having your cake and eating it too, and learning to handle two men who each bring different issues to your table.

Jack (captain of a charter boat) is involved with Emerson a self absorbed man who's after nothing but Jacks money (that he thinks he has) and the lifestyle he thinks it will give him.
David is a professional photographer who is in town to take pictures of orcas and steals Jacks heart.
An intense read about two men fighting to not fall in love as they fly apart and do just that. An incredibly mind blowing story about two men finding exactly what they never knew they always wanted. Two men who were searching for something completely different but never realized they would find what they were searching for in each other.

Ok this might sound weird but what I liked most about this book was the way the author started out with a slow build up. Really building on the personalities behind Jack, David and yes even Emerson. At first I loved Jack, felt horrible for David and really couldn't stand Emerson but by the end of the book I was heartbroken there story was over. A definite must read!

Jack Lewis is captain of a charter boat. He’s always had trouble trusting people, and his current relationship is a great example of his trust issues. He and Emerson, the man he’s with, are mostly interested in a physical relationship, and not in anything actually meaningful. For Jack, that’s just the way he wants it – until he meets David.

David is everything Jack hoped for, and never realized he was waiting for. Even after just a few hours, the two of them connect in a way Jack never thought possible. David is mysterious, charming, well-travelled, and intriguing, a refreshing change from the people Jack is used to. But while he opens up to David, he never suspected to actually feel something more than desire.

Jack was rather down-to-earth, but also quite determined in getting what he wanted once he had his eyes set on something. He had a strong, interesting personality. David was more frivolous, free, wild. But once they got to know each other and opened up toward each other, it was amazing. There was so much chemistry between these two characters, and their personalities really matched together. I liked each of them as a person, but as two people in a relationship, they were absolutely great.

This was a great read, with lovely, relatable characters, an interesting plot, and a fitting writing style. If you’re in the mood for some romance to lift up your spirits during these dark autumn days, Changing Tide would be a great choice.

I disliked a lot about this book, but in particular Jack. And if you can't like the main character it is hard to like a book

Jack and Emerson liked to pass the time together until Jack decided that it was going nowhere fast and Emerson was a little immature for the relationship he eventually wanted. Along comes David, a freelance photographer and a man running from his past. Read this touching romance and see if there’s a future for Jack and David and what scheme Emerson is cooking up next for Jack.

Loved it! There is so much going on with these three characters in this book. Three completely different men. Each man wanting something different from each other. Love, separation, anger, acceptance, forgiveness, tragedy and all this in a book called Changing Tide. Looking forward to reading more from this fantastic author!

I am unable to point out what I loved about this book. Usually I love a book that gives me an array of feelings, this one was just sweet. There was not much angst a little bit of trouble here and there but overall just falling in love as you fight yourself to do it.
I felt bad for Emerson, he seemed lost. I would have loved if the author would have not killed him off so suddenly and gave him his own book.
I could not put the book down and have no words to explain it.
