What is your idea of perfect happiness? I can’t tell you—it could be illegal.

What is your greatest fear? Myself.

Which historical figure do you most identify with? Don Quixote. We have both spent our lives searching for that impossible dream.

Which living person do you most admire? Anyone who can laugh at themselves.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? Flirting with danger.

What is the trait you most deplore in others? False humility.

What is your greatest extravagance? My seven wives.

What is your favorite journey? A journey into the unknown.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Frugality.

On what occasion do you lie? If omission isn’t lying … never.

What do you dislike most about your appearance? Getting old.

Which living person do you most despise? Anyone who demands that it’s their way or the highway.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Yes.

What is your greatest regret? Trusting the untrustworthy.

What or who is the greatest love of your life? That ain’t fair. I cop to the Fifth.

When and where were you happiest? At the altar all seven times.

Which talent would you most like to have? The magic of a master magician.

What is your current state of mind? Searching for that evasive P.O.M. [peace of mind].

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My age.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Never waking up with a horse’s head in my bed.

If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? Helmut Newton’s camera.

What is your most treasured possession? My pride.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? When the only light at the end of a black tunnel is the white light.

Where would you like to live? In my 20s.

What is your favorite occupation? Doing the unexpected.

What is your most marked characteristic? My voice.

What is the quality you most like in a man? Resilience.

What is the quality you most like in a woman? Willingness.

What do you most value in your friends? Being there through thin and thin. That’s friendship treasured.

Who are your favorite writers? Ernest Hemingway. His Sun Also Rises illuminated my path into cinema. Ambrose Bierce for his satirical genius and Oscar Wilde for his fearless decadence.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction? Popeye. “I yam what I yam. That’s all what I yam.”

Who are your heroes in real life? My mother and father.

What are your favorite names? Joshua and Jackson Evans.

What is it that you most dislike? Braggadocio.

How would you like to die? I wouldn’t.

What is your motto? “No price too high does an original bear.”
