TOMS RIVER – Within a span of three days, a 42-year-old man managed to rack up charges in two separate DWI incidents.
Toms River Township Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina told Jersey Shore Online that Samuel Kovacsy caused a path of destruction on two ocassions starting last Thursday and then again on Saturday.
The first incident happened close to midnight on February 6 when he was driving towards Mount Lane and Vincent Street. He ran through a stop sign and continued driving across Vincent Street driving into bricks that were outside of a home, then slamming into a tree.
Kovacsy was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He also obtained summons for reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failing to stop for a posted stop sign, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, along with additional summons.
Then on February 8, Kovacsy struck the curb outside Silverton Funeral Home. After, he then hit a speed limit sign, the entrance sign of the funeral home, a parked car, and finally coming to a stop after hitting a tree.
Kovacsy was again arrested for driving while intoxicated, and was also issued a summons for reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and some additional summons.
Both accidents are being investigated by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer PJ Gambardella.
