I must have read a different book than my GR friends. Or I am just too picky.
I HATED this story! I rarely DNF a book but it made me so angry I had to stop! Do not read if you do not want to hear me rant.
First, I am very clear about how I want my "mate" stories. This was NOT that. But I will ignore that because I hate the hero notwithstanding the fact that he knows all along she is his mate and that fate will eventually bring them together no matter what he does in the meantime.
So here it is.
If you meet a woman and like her (forget about her being you MATE) and you want her to "take you seriously" here are a few hints of things NOT to do!
Do NOT continue FUCKING every woman you can get your hands on
Do NOT brag about said fuckings to the woman you are trying to get to "take you seriously"
Do NOT express your jealousy to HER about a mutual friend having a random hookup in the bathroom that you are missing out on!
Do NOT brag to her about your skills with your dick and mouth that so many others have experienced and complemented!
At this point I was D.O.N.E.
Oh and the heroine was not all that upset about any of this - it seemed to turn her on so I was just as disgusted by her.

As a recent shifter convert, I am constantly looking for my next fix. I love the fated mate concept. What I prefer is the hero to be true to his mate. That was not the case with this story.
Trent is a sexy wolf shifter who works for the Federal Paranormal Unit of the FBI. He knows his coworker, Erica, is his fated mate but she is resistant to his charm. Trent was described as a womanizer on more than one occasion.
Erika was a loner. She had been abandoned by her mother because of her special gift and was tossed around in the foster system. She was very apprehensive about trusting anyone because she's only ever had one person she could trust, her boss Brock. When Trent showed interest, Erica knew better than to trust him because of seeing him with women in the office.

~ loner heroine who isn't quick to trust
~ no om drama
~ no ow drama but hero is referred to as a womanizer multiple times. He knows Erika is his mate but apparently he still saw other women when he couldn't soften her up to him right away (I like my mates to be commited, especially once they meet their mate)

~ excessive pushing away by heroine
~a few steamy sex scenes
~ no epilogue, just a set up for the next book.

This book is full with suspense and hot passion.
Erica has special powers that help her team but she doesn't let anyone know except her leader. It has always caused problems for her and she is better if she just puts up a front that she doesn't need anyone. Underneath she has a soft heart that has been broken way too many times. She has feelings for Trent but knows he can get any woman he wants.
Trent knows that Erica is his mate and has been trying for years to get her to admit her feelings for him. He doesn't know how bad she has been hurt or what secrets that she keeps so that no one will ever hurt her again. He is one sexy beast and just the sound of his voice can turn you on.
There's a killer on the lose and they need to find out who he is so that he will stop killing women. The problem is that the team will have to trust each other like never before and reveal some of their secrets. Will they let down their shields and trust each other or will the killer get the best of them?
The sexual tension between Trent and Erica will finally reach breaking point and what you get is hot sexual passion that is out of control. Boy did I need some relief after reading those passages. What I wouldn't give to have have such hot sex with a wolf. Guess I will just have to keep reading Milly's books so that I can live off of her books.
Milly's books just keep getting more and more exciting the more I read. If you haven't read any of her books I recommend that you start today!

There’s a serial killer on the lose, and the victims keep piling up. Who better to go on the hunt than the brave men and women of the Federal Paranormal Unit? Each member is “other” and they all have special abilities that aid in solving various crimes. The unit is a small, tight knit group. Join Trent and Erica as they try to bring the murderer to justice while trying not to give in to their sizzling attraction.
As usual with all Milly Taiden characters, the heroines are tough on the outside with a sensitive side they like to keep hidden. The heroes are all alpha males, gorgeous, protective, and undeterred when it comes to winning their women over. Erica doesn’t want to be attracted to Trent, not just because of his reputation as a ladies man, but she can’t afford to let him get too close lest he figure out what her ability is. But their newest case has them working in close proximity, as partners, and the pull is sometimes just too strong to resist.
Trent has known that Erica was the woman for him since the first time he laid eyes on her. Unfortunately she keeps pushing him away, and he wants her to come to him when she’s ready to admit that she wants him. With their new work partnership, he gets his first glimpses of her ability in action, and it worries him to death. He wants to protect her, but doesn’t know how.
The main characters weren’t lacking in development. I loved the sexual tension that was building between Trent and Erica from the first page. Between bouts of flirting and snarky conversations, I also enjoyed the brief glimpses of their vulnerable sides as well. Their chemistry was undeniably ever present. The love scenes were hot, as is typical for Milly Taiden. Fans won’t be disappointed, and let’s face it, when the author writes a shifter love scene, you know there will be biting involved. Trent was so hot in those moments; I began picturing our potential offspring.
“I would have been there for you. I could have helped you deal with it. You didn’t have to do it alone.”
“But… I’ve always dealt with it alone,” she whispered, and his heart cracked some more.
This story was very sexy, it had great suspense, and it was probably Milly’s longest book yet! I can not wait for the second book because I want more of the awesome camaraderie, the jokes, the snark, the loving, all of it!

I love when I find a book that never has a dull moment! Wolfs Protector is that book. The first page really sets the book! It was just action packed and sexy all the way through!
Erika guards her heart and her secret. I loved her. Trent, sigh..... was just a sexy, cocky, yummy wolf that I think is my new favorite wolf of all of Milly's wolves! They both work for the Federal Paranormal Unit and there is a killer on the loose! Can Erika's gift help them find the killer? Guess you will have to read the book to find out. This has to be my favorite book by Milly Taiden, hands down.
It's a story of love, romance, hot sex, murder, mystery and friendship. It has everything!
Trent is one hot shifter, out to do anything to protect his mate, even if she dosen't know she is his mate yet. Ericka fights her constant attraction to Trent, who she says is a womanizer.
Together they make sparks fly, with their sexual tension and their witty banter.
They are surrounded by a great team, their leader Brock. The mysterious Brock who watches out for Ericka and tries to keep her safe from herself, and others. Tony Ramirez, another hot shifter more laid back and very protective of his team mates. Jane the hot computer tech. She's a bit of a loner, incredibly intelligent and not afraid to stand up for herself. Together they make an unbeatable team!
The murder mystery was intersting and kept me guessing on who the killer way. Thought I had it figured out, then second guessed myself, then went back to and guessed again. Gotta love a story that makes you think and second and third guess yourself.
Overall great story, great characters and a definite must read!

I had a lot of fun reading this book and loved all of the bantering and antics among the characters as well as the mystery and vast paranormal element. Oh and the sexual build and sex scenes between the two main characters…HOT! A definite must read for any paranormal romance fans that enjoy a fun, exciting, mysterious and sensual read. Erica and Trent are very loveable and definitely my favorites from the character cast. Loved their teasing, chemistry, team work and back stories.
I look forward to seeing where Milly will go next in the series. I have a feeling we’re in for a lot more fun!

I loved this book! Milly Taiden writes an amazing book with characters taht you fall in love with easily. Always leaving you wanting more! Ericka is insecure about her abilities and Trent is a hot shifter who doesnt know how Ericka will handle his secret. They both work for the Federal Paranormal Unit of the FBI. Everyone on teh team has some kind of ability. I look forward to getting to read everyone story. I love the closeness of the group and the easy banter between them all. The sex is hot and out of this world

Wow...loved this book! It definitely went a different direction within the paranormal genre and that was refreshing. You cant help but fall in love with the characters.
Erica is strong, independent, and closed off...yet her insecurities could ruin her. She is extremely relatable to and you cant help but cheer her on through the story.
Trent is a hottie, womanizing shifter so of course he is easy to love. Its his softer sensitive side that has you swooning!
Milly did an amazing job with this book. Her plot has you drawn in from the beginning. The only thing that kept me from finishing this in one day was kids home on Spring Break. Lol. Of course her character development was flawless. I cant wait to read more!!!!

WOW! I don't know how else to explain this! Erica and Trent create such a fire, I can never think of fried chicken the same! The Federal Paranormal Unit includes people with special abilities. Shifters, Empaths. No one knows what the other can do. Trent wants Erica, has a hard time controlling his wolf when he's around her. Erica is pushing herself past the limit trying to track a killer with her vision. I just, couldn't put this down! It was hot. It was good. I'm dying for some more! WOW!

you want to read this? YES YOU DO! Its amazing the corrector development is flawless and the interaction between the leads is witty and sexy. This story flows from start to finish. Buy it if you want a steamy fun read.

You follow the case of a Federal Paranormal Unit, whose agents all have a different set of skill set. The very diverse team functions almost as a slightly skewed dysfunctional family, albeit from the strong Empath Erika and a Shifter Trent. We also catch glimpses of Jane and Tony battling back and forth.
I love the flow of the book, the ease in which it is showed us.
It has great character development.
A great plot, to keep you dialed in.
And an emotional ride, as the Author clearly gets into everyone's mind set.
I know the isn't a long review I just don't want to give any of the story away.I will say it does have very strong sexual content that is liable to stain your cheeks red.
If you like the paranormal at all this book should tickle your fancy :-)

Brilliant, is the first word that comes to mind.
This fantastic first story in the brand new series by Milly Taiden called Federal Paranormal Unit will have you clamouring for more.
I’ve been reading PNR for so long; I forgot how much I love a good thriller until I started this book.
When I began reading I was drawn into the same intense suspense as Silence of the Lambs, but when a writer throws a special paranormal unit and erotic romance into the mix, and you have perfection. What more could a reader want!
I dare anyone not to love this book and be chomping at the bit for Ms Taiden’s next instalment in this fabulous new series.

It was Ok read but a bit frustrating. I mean there was a couple signs, that pointed out to theory and they all were blind to it. No surprise who the killer was for me, thought.
And what the heck H was doing when he finally meet his mate? I will tell you what... Nothing. I was like 🤦♀️🤷♀️ So, he wants for her to run into his paws and all but... This going for years, not weeks. Not sure about what he was doing in that time, meaning with dating/f***ing other women. It wasn't clear about it. But some things he said/implied... Dude, that's not the way to inspire a girl to trust you with her heart.

A serial killer is on the loose and who better than then Federal Paranormal Unit to swoop in with their "gifts" and bring down the monsters! I was just in the market for a brand new (too me) Paranormal Romance author, and I think I found a good one! This is the first book I have read from the great Milly Taiden and I am so excited to read more from her. Wolf Protector was extremely well written, the characters were brought to life, and the sex scenes were incredibly erotic! You can NEVER go wrong with a nicely done, sensual shower scene, am I right?!
Paranormal Romance is one of my all time favorite genres, and when you add a murder mystery to that, I am SOLD! The character development in Wolf Protector was amazing. As readers, we want to know anything and everything about the characters, and the author nailed it with the two main ones. The characters hopes and fears, flaws and weaknesses, even their history and mannerisms were all brought to life and made it easier to relate to the readers. We were introduced to Erica Villa and Trent Buchanan, both top agents in the FPU. Milly couldn't have made a better hero or heroine.
I loved Erica! Now there is a cool chic I want to hang out with. She is a bad ass agent that takes no crap from anyone, especially Trent! We also get a glimpse of her past and you understand a little bit more about the woman she has become.
"Erica lifted her brows and glared at Trent. Whatever happened to shutting your mouth for self-preservation? I thought you wanted to live well into old age? Keep talking."
Trent Buchanan, oh how I just want to slap you and kiss you at the same time! Trent is a "ladies man" and he knows it. He is my favorite type of alpha male hero. Sexy, funny, incorrigible, and did I mention sexy! Trent is a shifter and he wants to make Erica his! He has known that since they first met, and god help him, he tries so hard to tear down Erica's walls to let him in her heart. This sarcastic, protective wolf will do anything to keep her safe.
"If you didn't have a stick the size of Texas up your ass, you'd realize what a catch I am."
We were introduced to other fantastic characters who just made the story complete. I hope we get to learn more about them in the upcoming books!
When those two weren't making me laugh so hard by their witty banter or making my heart pound out of my chest from all the sexual tension, the murder mystery had me hooked to the pages! I had a really hard time putting this down. I was constantly guessing and hoping who the killer was and what and who would bring him down.
Thank you Milly for introducing us to a world full of suspense, passion, and heart! It was a thrill ride and I can't wait for the next journey you take us on.

This is a well written book. The underlayings of the author's hometown are woven beautifully into the characters making them more realistic in demeanor.
I particularly like how they all have different abilities that none of the others know about. Very mysterious. The chapters are a bit lengthy but that's not a problem for the seasoned reader. You'll find yourself immersed in the story and won't even realise how much you've read until you snap back to reality anyway.
By chapter 4 it was apparent to me who the killer was (But I'm the kind of person everyone hates playing Clue with too), how the team totally bypassed that, especially Erica with what she knew the killer had said to his victims, is beyond me. I blame the sexual frustration between Erica and Trent on that one.
The intimate scenes are steamy. Milly's style will have you squirming as you read Trent and Erica's escapades.
Although the storyline is a bit predictable, if you're a lover of murder mysteries and sex you'll fall in love with this book and eagerly await book two.

This was my first book by Milly Taiden and I certainly really enjoyed reading it. It has romance, murder, mystery, shapeshifters, you name it and it probably has it. My favorite aspect of this book was the murder/mystery side to it. It's not very often that a romance book has a good murder/mystery side to it but this does. The romance was good and Detective Buchanan was hot as heck. Makes you wish you could find someone like him. Overall a really good book and I look forward to reading many more books by Ms. Taiden in the future.

The cover blurb for Wolf Protector gives you a very good idea of what this gripping, fast paced novel is about without my having to add any more teasers. The Federal Paranormal Unit reminds me so much of one of my favorite television crime dramas, Criminal Minds. Each member of the team brings their own unique, specialized talents to the search for the truly bad guys. They function as a tight team, people who would take a bullet for any of their team members, often times more like a group of friends than co-workers. And in reality they are both.
Trent has known that Erica is his mate since they first met. Erica, while attracted to Trent, sees him as a player – and besides, she doesn’t do relationships. But this case will change their dynamics. College students are being brutally maimed and killed by a madman, and Erica’s special talents can lead them to him much faster but at a terrible toll on her. When Trent finally understands his mate’s abilities, he will do everything in his power to protect, comfort and convince her that they belong together. But first they have to catch a serial killer… and survive this case.
I enjoyed Wolf Protector very much. It is an intense story, tightly wound yet gives a good balance between the crime story and the developing love story between Erica and Trent. I would not hesitate to recommend this story (and this series) to anyone who enjoys a crime drama with a bit of the paranormal tossed in – and a very sexy love story pulling all the story lines together.

Very HOT Paranormal Romantic Suspense! Wow! What a great HOT paranormal romantic suspense story! This story has everything you need for a great romantic suspense and then to add hot and hard paranormal characters - what can I say, but "YEAH!" There are multiple suspects, the heroine is fighting her attraction for the hero, and there is humor too! I was captured by this book when I started reading it last night! I felt part of the story working along side Erica and Trent to find the murderer! If only I had my very own wolf protector to cuddle up with when I'm reading! And now a little about the story...

Erica, Trent and 3 others help solve crimes using their special abilities. We meet the team as they are getting a new assignment.
Erica, Trent, and Rameriez head to the scene of the crime. Erica usually only works directly with Brock, her supervisor, as no one on the team knows about her special talents but him. She is now forced to work closely with Trent while trying to hide her secret. At the same time she is fighting her attraction to the biggest Casanova on the team.

He doesn't know how bad she has been hurt in the past or what secrets that she keeps but he want to know so that no one will ever hurt her again.
The main characters weren’t lacking in development. I loved the sexual tension that was building between Trent and Erica from the first page. Between the bouts of flirting and snarky conversations, I enjoyed the brief glimpses of their vulnerable sides. Their chemistry was undeniably there.

This was a new premise for me. A supernatural unit in a world that knows nothing about supernaturals. Add in the part where even the own team don’t know each other’s abilities and it’s vastly unique.
I adored the way that Erica and Trent bantered back and forth. The whole story has this level of suspense that is broken up by bouts of banter and hot sex between Erica and Trent. Trent is a wolf shifter and knows that Erica is it for him. Watching Erica fight to find the missing girls and the killer and Trent doing everything to help her added this layer to the story. I could easily see him doing everything and anything to just make her life better.
Their relationship is steamy and yummy all rolled into one. I want my own Trent, someone so devoted to me. There are some other characters that I fell in love with that I look forward to reading their stories.
I recommend this story because it’s a great blend of steam and suspense.

For a fan of Milly Taiden’s Sharp Change and werewolf Alpha males, this book certainly hits the spot. She infuses a sense of humor along with the sizzling chemistry.
Trent is a very protective hero who anticipates his mate’s needs, he’s also very dependable and devoted to his mate. The way Trent puts Erica before anything else tells how deep he loves her and makes him a remarkable character.
This is an amazing story that will draw you in and have you biting your nails as you try to solve the mystery of who the serial killer was. Wolf Protector is fast-paced and has some unique world building going on. The author pulls the reader in with her well-developed characters and plot. There are no questions left unanswered.

Wolf Protector combines great characters with intrigue and romance to create a book the packs quite the punch. Erica is a strong woman with a fragile past. Trent is a smoking hot shifter who has been patiently waiting years to claim his mate. Together they must solve a case before another woman goes missing. As their attraction for one another builds, so does the tension to solve the case. Along the way we meet great secondary characters with their own unrevealed paranormal abilities which prepares us for the rest of the series All this builds to the final climax when the killer and their true feelings is finally exposed This page-turner will keep the reader riveted until the very end. Author Milly Taiden has created a great series and I personally cannot wait for the next book.

My favorite Milly Taiden yet. All the Taiden trademarks I've come to expect are there. Hot, cocky hero? Check. Sassy, spitfire heroine? Check. Love scenes so hot they're illegal in seventeen states? Check, check. And on top of all that, this one throws a little serial killer suspense into the mix. (Keep in mind that this is a paranormal romance first, suspense second.)
Trent Buchanan is one sexy wolf shifter, and Erica's supernatural ability is...well, you'll have to read the book and find out. :) Let's just say that Taiden puts her own unique twist on it. The secondary characters rounding out the rest of the Federal Paranormal Unit are fascinating as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing how their stories play out in future books in the series.

This is my first book from Milly Taiden. I wasn’t sure what I was going to get, but I have to say it was really great quick read. This was a combination of sizzling romance, murder, mystery, and suspense. It was fast paced and action packed.
Love the two main characters, Trent & Erica. Their attraction for each other was fierce but volatile at the same time. Erica has trouble trusting others, and why not? She’s had everyone she’s ever cared about abandon her. Trent knew from the start that Erica is his mate, and all though he wants to claim her as his, he must first gain her trust, which is proving difficult.
This book had so many twists and turns. It was very hard to put down. I can’t wait for the next installment.
