Iceland-based Symba Renewable Energy has announced an agreement with a geothermal developer for the development of a staged 25 MW geothermal power project in the Aegean region of Turkey.

In an announcement, Iceland-headquartered Symba Renewable Energy (SRE) has announced plans on development of a 25 MW geothermal power project in Turkey.

SRE designs & manufactures advanced geothermal power plants and is currently at various stages of development for several geothermal projects, in Asia, Kenya and North America.

The SRE project team builds its business on the geothermal experience gained from successful projects in Kenya, Iceland, North America and Asia.

The project in Turkey is to be developed in partnership with a Turkish geothermal developer. SRE plans to initially build a minimum 5MW power plant, as part of a phased development of the currently estimated 25MW potential found in the first working area of the license area. The license covers more than 3,000 hectares and is located in one of the top geothermal regions in Turkey. Evaluation of gradient well fluids indicate estimated reservoir temperature of 145 degrees Celsius.

SRE uses in-house designed high efficiency modular Flash, ORC and Hybrid systems, for power project applications including geothermal, biomass and waste to energy. Our advanced technology will add to the technical success of the project, as well as significantly improve project economics. We are excited about working on this new project in Turkey, which is an important geothermal market for SRE, and we look forward to developing a world class geothermal project.
