SACRAMENTO — It’s not what usually comes to mind when you think of Caltrans, boats navigating the waters of the San Francisco Bay Area. The department has a fleet of boats used to transport engineers, biologists, and maintenance crews to the seven Bay Area Bridges. The crew who operates the boats also use them to clean up trash from the water and areas that are hard to reach by land.

In this News Flash, we take you out on the water to observe the crews’ litter removal operations, and show you what kinds of things they pull from the water on a daily basis.
