Louisiana man receives 20 years for half an ounce of marijuana

A 27-year-old Louisiana man received a maximum sentence of "20 years hard labor" after he was found possessing 15 grams, or about half an ounce, of marijuana. Corey Ladd had prior drug convictions and his sentencing mentioned him as a "multiple offender," but the severity of the punishment led many to criticize the United States justice system.
