Atlanta apartments invite artists to bring unique features to properties

With dozens of luxury apartments rising across the city, one development can blur into the next as each tries to outdo its predecessor with a new amenity.

But developer Alliance Residential is trying a different approach, tapping local artists to make custom installations for their buildings—and bringing unique flash to their properties in Midtown and Sandy Springs.

According to press releases about the two properties— Broadstone Springs and Broadstone Midtown—the art isn’t just a simple mural or sculpture.

In Midtown, the soon-to-be-open property on Juniper Street will feature a lobby art collection curated by Hope Cohn, an Atlanta artist recently featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia.

On the exterior, a large mural, reflecting the art deco-modern fusion of the building, will be painted by Loss Prevention—the art collaborative known for their John Lewis “*Hero” mural in downtown.

Just OTP in Sandy Springs, near the rising City Springs development, Broadstone Springs has welcomed its first residents.

The 222-unit development, tucked off of Roswell Road just south of Abernathy Road, features eight three-story townhomes complete with fireplaces capped by custom-made mantles designed by Sons of Sawdust.

Residents in the rest of the 7.5-acre secluded compound can enjoy secret gardens, an open-air yoga studio, poolside cabanas, and fountain-filled courtyards.

It’s probably for the best that there’s plenty to occupy residents, as negotiating the single driveway out of the complex, which empties onto traffic-plagued Roswell, won’t be for the faint of heart.
