The only thing they have in common? Really... sharp... teeth.

Antonia Fielding has one goal: to escape the clutches of the Project. With the blood-virus infecting her system, though, a body bag is likely her only way out. Until her boss lets slip that he may just have a cure for her - if she brings in an escaped Lycan. Can she trust him? Now there's the million-dollar question. Then again, can she afford not to take that chance?

Darce Foster was a Special Forces soldier, until the Project got hold of him. Now he's a Lycan, a lab-created werewolf, this close to escaping his creators - until another of the Project's experiments stops him in his tracks. Not because she has the power to hold him, but because he instantly recognizes the impossible. The vampiress is his mate. Allowing her to bring him in is his only choice-and possibly the last mistake of his life.

Enemies or lovers, it doesn't matter. When they discover that the Project is hiding yet more secrets, they must work together to bring it down... or die in the attempt.

The second book in the series starts where the first book stopped.
The impossible love between a lycan and a blood is blooming and new concepts such as SARA zombies (self-aware reanimates) and lycan-blood hybrids are introduced.
Scientists continue to play gods and cage fights take place between species with the blessings of the real evil monster of the book, general Fitzgerald.
Civilization and humanity of course are going to hell.

Can I have some more? I need Sanders story!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

After reading and loving Ms Carter’s first book in this series Perfect Mate, I was VERY excited to read this second book in the series Blood Mate. Man, it was definitely worth the wait!! This book carries on from the first one with Darce and Toni. Darce is a werewolf and Antonia (toni) is a Blood (Vampire). It was VERY gripping. I loved that this book had tons of action and suspense. It made me sit on the edge of my seat through most of it. I love those kinds of books! It also had a lot of romance. Now the romance was intense to an extent but surprisingly it was not overwhelming. There were many times you would get one or the other’s thoughts on the relationship but due to the story, well…read it and find out!! I don’t want to give out spoilers. Just know that it is not an erotica type book which is nice. I think overall this book was more about the action and suspense than it was about the romance. I like that about this series. There is a bit of everything for everyone. And you can tell the next book in the series will be the same way with a twist. Like I said, read it to know what I am talking about. :)

I loved the premise of this story about the government doing experiments and creating shifters, vampires and zombies plus zombies with arachnid DNA (how cool is that?). However I think with the multiple POV's I felt it was a little chaotic. I thought it kind of interupted the flow of the story. I loved the interaction of the characters. I also liked that Sanders and Richards are getting their stories next because of the whole gay military aspect. I loved also how Lillian from the previous book is so bad ass in this book.

This is a story about Toni who is a blood and is very pissed at the world she got accidentally injected with the blood virus and now she wants the cure. She turned in Darce who is a shifter into the miliatry just so she could get it. Which that really wasn't addressed in this story. I don't believe Darce knows about her which threw me off a little. You have enough time to have sex but not to talk about why she threw you to the enemy. I thought that was a little out there to believe.

Overall I liked it but there were just a few things I didn't like so thats why the 4 stars. I cannot wait for the next books and I hope we get to see the past characters along with any new ones that come up.

This is the second book in Mina's Project Rebellion series and the cover? *fans face* Antonia is looking to escape the clutches of the Project when she's told she can have a cure (virus is infecting her blood) if she brings in a Lycan. Said Lycan is Darce, a hot, hot, hot special forces soldier who unfortunately now realizes that the one person standing in his way of escape is his destined mate.

I liked Perfect Mate, but I have to say Blood Mate is better. Mina and her universe have matured in the second installment, and I am looking forward to future books in this world. The universe is awesome, and while sometimes the "destined" mate thing gets old, I secretly want a hot wolf to sniff my neck … (Maybe my hubby is a latent shifter?) All in all it's a fun and entertaining read, I also like the heroine better in this book than the first. If you like viruses, zombies, lycans and destined mates, pick up the Project Rebellion series.

REVIEW:
Blood Mate
Project Rebellion Book 2
By Mina Carter

Blood Mate is the second book in Mina Carter's Project Rebellion Series.

I was totally excited when I was offered this book for review. I hadn't even realized it was out yet. I'm a fan of Mina Carter books, and Perfect Mate is one of my favorites. I absorbed that book. That being said, I had high expectations with this sequel, and Mina didn't let me down.

Blood Mate was action packed, and filled with mystery, and suspense. It kept me on the edge of my seat while I was reading it, and didn't let me go until I finished. The world that Mina has created for this series is amazing, and she share knows how to spin a story.

I liked Antonia and Darce. They show the true meaning of how opposites attract, or in this case enemies attract. They took me through a range of emotions when they were together. I would have liked a few more romantic scenes between the two of them. Other then that, this was a well written, fun, and exciting book to read.

4.5 STARS / 5

The second book in the series is just as good as the first, if not better. Talk about kick-ass action from beginning to end. While there's plenty of sexual chemistry between Lycan (Darce) and Blood (Toni), the romance is not front and center here. No matter, it's still a great story that had me engaged right up until the end. What I like most about the series is that even though it's about lycans, vampires, and zombies, there's a lot more going on than meets the eye. It seems the never-ending experiments on humans and the supernatural have taken a darker turn for the worse. This is a terrific paranormal series that I highly recommend. I look forward to reading the next installment. I just hope we don't have to wait too long.

I liked reading it.
This one is about a Blood soldier (vampire) and Lycan/soldier (werewolf ). The wolf soldier pack are now going up against the military to get their squad member. The only thing is he went willingly as he found his fated mate and she's a blood.

Great series!

So I had to buy the next two books available in the series. Darce and Toni are definitely amusing. He comes across as somewhat big and dumb but he's anything but. She seems cold and ruthless but she's not. It makes for a really fun story. A very good read!

Blood Mate is the second book in Mina Carter's The Project Rebellion series. Each book can be read as a standalone book but the series does feature recurring characters. I actually read Blood Mate before Perfect Mate (first book in the series) and had no problem following the ongoing plot and recurring characters.

In Blood Mate, vampire Toni captures lycan Darce and brings him back to the compound. She was just doing her job but quickly realizes that was a huge mistake and that the government she works for is corrupt. In this shifter/vamp world created by Mina Carter: vampires, lycans, and zombies are government experiments. Blood Mate does feature a common plot of evil government experimenting on good little soldiers but I am fond of that plot and thought Mina did an excellent job on her spin of government experimentation/manipulation. Highly recommend!

Major Antonia “Toni” Fielding is a Blood, she wants to be human again but she has not seen any inkling of a cure, until now. When she ends up with the second in command Lycan who is just the type of specimen the doctor is looking for, she finds herself feeling torn between doing what she needs to be cured and placing the Lycan in harms way.

Special Forces soldier who was just another victim of the project, Darce Foster knows Toni is his mate. He is willing to forgive her because he knows that desperation she feels, but when the hunted becomes the huntee both have to work together to survive.

Toni is a vampire. She follows the rules because she wants the vaccine that will make her human. Darce is the second in command of the wolf pack. He is funny and handsome. Toni catches Darce and turns him in.

But somewhere along the way she falls for the wolf that keeps telling her that she belongs to him. They save each other and bond.

I can't wait for the next book.

This is Darce and Toni's story. She's a "blood" or vampire who was turned by accident and usually takes clean up duty for The Project. She's tasked with bringing back a lycan from Jake Harper's team and Darce is the one she ends up capturing. Darce of course knows that Toni is his true mate, so he's willing to go wherever he takes her and misses opportunities to escape so he can get sexy with his woman...who hauls him in anyway in hopes of a cure. Toni soon realizes that The Project is up to even more no good than just turning people into lycans, vampires and zombies and she's put the wolf who loves her and who, if she'll admit it to herself, she also has feelings for, into a pretty bad situation. So, she sets out to undo her mistake and help him out.

Same solid world building and the feel is even more dire and dreary than in the previous story. I liked getting to know the secondary characters and becoming more intrigued with their stories. It definitely served its purpose in hooking me into future installments of the series as I want to see Nic, Sanders or even Steele maybe find a mate. However, this just didn't fascinate me the way the first one did. I wasn't as riveted and I think some of that was because this kind of overdid it in the look-how-far-the-government-has-gone sort of sense. I could believe they were going to beat and torture Darce for some sort of information, but then they randomly just drop the effort and he gets thrown in to their MMA-style fighting that the government is running with their experiments and broadcasting...presumably to the public? So this is no longer a top secret experiment? And how does this help The Project get the information they wanted from Darce? And then civilians are purchasing lycans...when the government can't even control them? And now, after supposedly going overboard to prevent the cross-contamination of the viruses and the accidental creation of hybrids, they are are no longer forbidden. In fact, one of the new experiments is in trying to breed them the old fashioned way, which is how Toni and Darce get their sexy times. But evidently the government never thought to just do an exchange of blood because Toni and Darce figure out exactly how easy it is to create a hybrid. It just felt like there was a lot more going on in this story that made little sense (or at least had little explanation for it) and more in the way of plot holes and what not. This was still an enjoyable story, but I longed for the simpler intensity of the first story with it's non-convoluted plot and very clear rules. I still want to continue with the series...I really want to know who Sanders ends up with. At this point, it could be just about anyone since he lusted after no less than 3 guys in this one. So we'll see, hopefully.

Not a stand-alone; you really need to read book 1.

The government is experimenting on their soldiers and covering it up, then treating them as less than human. Being good soldiers, the victims of these crimes follow along with the program.

Toni and Darce's story starts in Book 1 with Toni being tasked with killing Darce's whole team. At some point, she is promised a non-existent cure if she brings one back alive, which she does: Darcy. Every time we turn around, Toni is finding evidence of how the chain of command let her and the other soldiers down, and like a good soldier she doesn't do anything about it. She just keeps following along with the program. It kind of bothered me, but I also know that is the way most soldiers go... they follow orders. Slowly she realizes her mistake, but unlike what I would expect, she doesn't do a good job of thinking through with a plan. This story was very drawn out.. they almost escape, oh no, they don't... they almost.. no... oh wait, they do with even less of a plan than the first escape attempt.

While I enjoyed the book, I will be bowing out of the series now. Too many people know about this secret government experiment which is FUBAR, and no one seems to care because they don't care about the victims. This one seemed to have a lot of stereotypes: The abusive general, the bully soldier, the money-hungry peons who will look the other way for the all-mighty dollar.

Off to a running start after the first book this is a roller coaster ride from start to finish! With a focus on the next couple, the unusual pairing of a Lycan and a Blood, as well as an attack on the Project, this book is action packed and full of tension for who will survive. The heat building between Toni and Darce is great especially in the complicated situation of both their instinctual animosity and the fact of being on opposite sides as to how they are with the Project. Add in the unusual new species they find the deeper they get into the Project and the inner and outer attempts to bring the Project down and this was great!
Very unfortunate that there has not been a third book yet. Though this story ends there is a big loose end left. With any luck a third book telling that story will one day happen, but until then this is left at a bit of a loose end.

The second in the Project Rebellion series carries on from the first book. A team of soldiers who’ve worked for a military organisation for a while, believing they’re safe - are, until their bosses attack the hurt squad and inject them with something potentially lethal.
This series has mad scientists in the military experimenting on soldiers and turning them into Bloods (vamps) Lycans (werewolf) or BDs (Re-animates or zombies)
This squad is injected with the Lycan strand.
At the end of book one, they’ve split up groups due to circumstances I won’t reveal.
Blood Toni, is responsible for hunting escapees and manages to capture Darce, a Lycan from
Jack’s squad.
He’s a bit of joker, damn handsome and she tries to ignore her instant attraction to him.
She takes him in, battered and bruised, but finds deadly secrets about the organisation and starts to look into it.
It’s PNR so you know what you’re getting, but refreshingly the damsels aren’t damsels in distress for long; they kick arse.
There’s romance, intrigue, fighting, lots of blood and great characters.
Toni is as mean and tough as they come, but Darce finds out she has a heart of gold.
I love this team up with the squabbles, the banter and the sizzling chemistry.
I love this series.

Darce is a an Alpha werewolf and determined not to become another statistic for the Project. But he has an unhealthy attachment to Antonia. She is not only beautiful and kickass but a Vamp to boot. And one of the elite mop up crew who go after the shifters who stray from the programme.

Toni is not all that she seems either. She is not a frosty ice maiden and has a tender heart - who knew Vamps had them!

I loved the way Darce was determined to have her as his mate but without being all I-man-you-woman-you-do-as-I-say about it! Great mix of passion along with the action without being overly romantic. This is very much an action led book which is a nice change sometimes.

Loving this new series and can't wait to see what comes next.

Intense action! Vamps, lycans, zombies, oh my!

One of our pack is captured by the Blood he feels is his mate in book 2 of the Project Rebellion series. This begins a series of intense action packed events that lead to the exposure of a deep dark underbelly of The Project. The heroes in this book are drawn to each other by some semi-mystical power that draws them- him with a mate pull, her with... I had to stretch to understand the pull she had towards him. None the less, it was an enjoyable book. The Bloods and Lycans instinctively despise each other, yet here we have two that get over it pretty darned quickly to go on to have a sizzling hot passionately deep relationship.

Darce and Toni, mash up of blood and lycan love..

A other great story made deep into the Project base camp, while Hell is breaking loose allover, that turns out to be a whole 'nother level of sickness and more advanced players which many lycan packs and bloods were thrown in to fight to death, fight for their lives. Toni goes through changes as Darce learns to better control his wolf shifts. Darce and Toni hangs in there until they find a way out along with the freed lycans and bloods, advanced hybrid and Sara's, etc.

I give this book 5 cups of steaming java, ☕☕☕☕☕, for a well written entertaining story full of action that still has me in the grips of a tale since the beginning of book 1. Definitely looking forward to next book in this Project series.

Great read

This story was really well done. It picks up where the first one left off, which I would recommend you read prior to this one. You could probably read this one without having read the first but you will feel like you might be missing some things. The characters are fantastic and I love the world that Mina Carter has created here. It's different than anything I've read before and very well done! It pulled me in from beginning to end and I can't wait for that next book!

Super Story!

Toni and Darce shouldn't be together. She's a Blood. He's a werewolf. The two don't mix. They do have a lot in common, though. Both were once loyal human soldiers. Both were turned against their will by the Project scientists. Both feel a powerful attraction to each other. And, both are in danger. These characters provide very different approaches to situations. Darce is cocky, irreverent, and funny. Toni is serious, methodical and calculating. Both are deadly. I love them! Super story, strong characters, lots of action and drama.

Farce and Antonia

This is book 2 in this series. Darce is Jack's second in command they are both Alphas. The leaders of the Project are not willing to lose Jacks squad and send another squad led by a female Vampire to bring them back.
She tracks and captures Darce. He let's get because he scents that she is his mate. She tries hard to resist his allure when she realizes her attraction to him. But she still turns him in. Then she has to figure out how to rescue him. Exciting plot.
