Hundreds of volunteers are needed to rake yards and bag leaves for seniors and people with disabilities in the St. Croix River Valley.

The 16th annual Rake a Difference Day sponsored by the nonprofit Community Thread will be Oct. 26, but volunteers can rake anytime between Oct. 19 and Nov. 9.

Last year, Community Thread organized 740 volunteers to rake for nearly 95 people. Volunteer groups included families, Scout troops, Rotary clubs, school groups, companies and neighborhood associations, said Patrice Bailey, volunteer center program manager.

People who want to have their lawns raked and people interested in volunteering can call 651-439-7434, visit communitythreadmn.org or e-mail Bailey at patrice@communitythreadmn.org.

The deadline to register to volunteer or have a yard raked is Friday.
