SURAT: Heavy rain lashed Surat city on Monday afternoon. Other parts of south Gujarat, too, recorded heavy rain during the day. Wagai in the Dang district recorded 270 mm of rainfall till 4pm on Monday, which was the highest in the region. Vasda in Navsari district recorded 259 mm of rainfall during the period.
Songadh taluka of Tapi district where Ukai dam is located recorded 102mm, Vyara 97mm and Utchal 46mm of rainfall.

Meanwhile, 102 people, including 80 women, 10 men and 12 children, were shifted from Korala village of Nizar taluka of Tapi district to safer places after their dwellings got submerged in Tapi river water.
The road to Sadgavan village in Nizar taluka lies inundated. Boats have been kept ready by the administration to ferry people.
In Dang district, Ahwa recorded 130mm and Saputara 67mm of rainfall. Chikhli in Navsari district recorded 117mm of rainfall.
Umarpada in Surat district recorded 85mm and Mangrol 61mm of rainfall. Surat city recorded 25mm of rainfall.
Valsad taluka recorded 115mm, Pardi 79mm, Dharampur 141mm, Umaragam 139mm and Kaprada 137mm of rainfall in Valsad district. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in the region in the next 24 hours.
