Rain to continue in south, coastal Gujarat

Rain to continue in south, coastal Gujarat

September 24, 2013 / 03:00 PM IST

The low pressure area instrumental in bringing rain over central India continues to persist near southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of Gujarat. Under the influence of this weather system, coastal Gujarat, west Madhya Pradesh, southeast Rajasthan and north coastal Maharashtra will continue to get rain. Rain will be moderate at many places in these areas but Gujarat will have very heavy rain at a few places during the next two days.
As the low pressure area has already left central India, rain will become subdued and clear sky could raise temperatures over rest of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Telangana during the next two days.
Rain is expected to increase over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal from tomorrow onwards as a trough is expected to form from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to north Bay of Bengal.
Formation of another trough from east Uttar Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh will also increase rain over northeast from tomorrow onwards. Temperatures that are above normal by 5 degrees at many places in the region will drop in next 48 hours.
The southwesterly winds may also reach up to south Delhi and adjoining areas of southwest Uttar Pradesh and some parts of northwest Madhya Pradesh. Thunder activity may take place in these areas in next 48 hours.
Rain will remain mostly light along the West coast as the offshore trough has turned feeble. South interior Peninsula will witness subdued rain so temperatures will rise and days will be sultry due to presence of moisture. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu may receive light rain in the next two days.
