Seuffert named EQB Executive Director

MN Environmental Quality Board

The Environmental Quality Board (EQB) is announcing the selection of a new Executive Director. William “Will” Seuffert, currently a Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Mark Dayton, will be the new EQB Executive Director beginning in September.

“This was an excellent and thorough search. We met with a number of talented candidates, but Will Seuffert’s abilities really set him apart,” says EQB Chair, and Minnesota Commissioner of the Agriculture, Dave Frederickson. “In his role working with Governor Dayton, Will has shown both an understanding of the policies and issues that surround environmental regulation and demonstrated skills in promoting interagency problem solving. Our search committee really believes that Will Seuffert will be an excellent leader for EQB."

As a Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Dayton, Seuffert (soy-fert) has worked closely with all the cabinet agencies that are represented by the EQB, and has great familiarity with the range of issues that come before the Board.  Prior to his work for Governor Dayton, Seuffert was Committee Administrator for the Minnesota Senate Energy, Utilities, Technology and Communications Committee, and a Legislative Assistant to Senator Terri Bonoff.

Seuffert has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Eckerd College in Florida, and a Master’s degree in International Peace and Conflict from American University in Washington D.C.

The Environmental Quality Board brings together the Governor’s Office (as chair), five citizens and the heads of nine state agencies that play a vital role in Minnesota’s environment and development. The board develops policy, creates long-range plans and reviews proposed projects that would significantly influence Minnesota’s environment.
