INDIANAPOLIS – An off-duty Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer was arrested in Johnson County early Saturday morning after police say he was driving drunk on his motorcycle.
According to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Gregory R. Scott tested for a blood alcohol content of 0.16. An officer noticed Scott speeding on his motorcycle and pulled him over.
It happened at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. The officer was following Scott’s motorcycle and noticed he was going too fast while he passed a semi. The officer clocked Scott at 76 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, the report said. The report said Scott kept changing lanes without using his turn signal.
When the officer stopped Scott, he noticed he had “watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.” Scott failed a field sobriety test, the report said, and submitted to a certified test.
According to IMPD, Scott has been placed on administrative duties pending an investigation. He is the third IMPD officer arrested in August on suspicion of drunk driving; Kevin Brown was arrested in Morgan County earlier this month and Ron Santa was arrested following an Aug. 13 incident.
