Ottawa County deputy suspended 30 days for 'inappropriate behavior'

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI -- A long-serving Ottawa County sheriff's deputy has been suspended for 30 days for "inappropriate behavior," Ottawa County Undersheriff Greg Steignenga confirmed tonight.

Deputy Matt VanLiere, 43, was placed on unpaid suspension after an internal investigation.

Steigenga declined to provide details about the behavior involving VanLiere, but said he violated internal policies of the sheriff's department.
