Baconfest 2014 Dates Announced And It's Bigger Than Ever

It feels like Baconfest 2013 was only a few weeks ago (we still haven't worked off the extra pounds, and our clothes still smell like smoke) but really, it's been almost six months. That means it's time to start thinking about Baconfest 2014. The dates were just announced and, this time around, there is a whole week of porky events to sate your appetites.

The main event will take place on April 25 and 26, 2014. That's right, two days. Rather than just one long Saturday with two sessions of bacon glory, this year the fest stretches over two days and three sessions, with an extra Friday evening dinner session.

Even better, there will be a whole bunch of other Baconfest events, so if you can't make it to the main show (or if you want to really pack on the pounds) you can still participate. These include a Baconfest cocktail party, a Baconfest "past masters" kickoff dinner and neighborhood "bacon crawls." Organizers and participating restaurants are also expanding their "dine-around" program, with a special bacon dish added to menus throughout the month of April. A portion of the sales of these dishes will benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Ticket prices for the main event are the same: $100 for a regular session, $200 for VIP entry. Some VIP tickets will go on sale in December (perfect for the holidays!) and the rest will go on sale in February.
