Washington reporter Hazel Bradford was recognized in the government coverage category, winning a national silver award as well as a regional silver award. Her stories examined the impact of President Donald Trump’s trade dispute with China, the SEC’s plan to open private markets to a wider audience and the SEC’s new rules for the shareholder proposal process.

Senior reporter Douglas Appell won a silver regional award in the news enterprise category for an in-depth look at how a new performance-based fee structure at the giant GPIF pension fund in Tokyo was reducing the fees paid to managers.

Reporter Brian Croce, who covers Washington as well as regulatory and legislative efforts affecting defined contribution plans, also was recognized with a regional silver award in the news analysis category. His story chronicled Congress’ passage of the SECURE Act in the final days of 2019, described as the most significant piece of retirement legislation in more than a dozen years.

Jonathan LaMantia named Knight-Bagehot 2020 Fellow
Congratulations to Crain’s New York Business’ Jonathan LaMantia on being named a 2020 Knight-Bagehot Fellow! The Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism is a program at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Jonathan LaMantia is a senior reporter covering health care for Crain’s New York Business and its health care newsletter, Health Pulse. At Crain’s, he covers the business of healthcare in New York City, reporting on hospitals, health insurers, medical groups and the health policy decisions that affect the industry. Earlier, Jonathan interned at Bloomberg News and Long Island Business News. He earned a B.A. in business journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
