Fishers Police arrested a two-year State Police veteran early Sunday morning.
Christopher Dyer, a road patrol officer for the Evansville post, was arrested at a Hamilton County restaurant near I-69 and 96th Street after police responded to a call of a man waving a gun inside the establishment.
When officers arrived, they were told Dyer had already left the scene on foot. He was found a short time later, and arrested. Dyer still had the gun with him, but it was holstered when officers caught up with him.
A portable breathalyzer test shows alcohol levels of 0.27 BAC.
Dyer was arrested for Criminal Recklessness with a Weapon, Public Intoxication and Resisting Law Enforcement. He will stay at the Hamilton County Jail until posting bond later Sunday.
After posting bond, Dyer will be placed on Administrative Duty, pending the outcome of the charges filed against him. Dyer will be working, unarmed, in an office environment and will not have any arrest powers. ISP will investigate the incident separately from Fishers PD to determine violations of department policies, rules or regulations. The internal investigation could result in disciplinary action including reprimand, suspension or termination.
