Violent Month You Say?

  • Tavon [Tanner] was among more than 400 people shot in Chicago this month. There have been at least 78 homicides, marking August as the most violent month in the city in almost 20 years, according to data provided by the Chicago Police Department. And there are two more days to go.

The city hasn't seen a deadlier month since October of 1997, when there were 79 homicides. For the whole year, the count was 761, according to department numbers.
Only 78? HeyJackass.com has the total at 85, and we don't even know if they've counted the 6 arson-related deaths that can only be called "homicides" no matter what the Medical Examiner, Chief of Detectives and CompStat call them. Probably another set of "death investigations" which are approaching 40 this year - another bit of "smoke" in a smoke-and-mirror world.

We still have almost two whole more days to go.
With a little (bad) luck we might come close to triple digits by the Hey Jackass! tracking.

I hope September is better, but with the need to rile up the neighborhoods to get them out to vote?
Yeah, September and October are going to be bloody.
But they will get the boys and girls from the Southside out to vote!
And getting them to vote is the goal.
Otherwise they are pretty useless to the Democrat Machine.

The trib had it at 84 this morning--well yesterday(Monday) morning (before the lone homicide Monday that pushed us to 85). They may have edited it since then with CPD stats, which isn't updated daily (and sometimes weekly when I check). The trib even has their own homicide tracker so I don't see how their numbers differ from HJA's numbers all of a sudden.

abc had us at 84 also, but their other stats were horrendously low compared to all the other media outlets. They had us at over 450 homicides on the year and 2,200 shot. They also claimed only 9 were killed and 50+ wounded this weekend when it was actually 11 killed, 60+ wounded. They were using CPD stats which are just simply false at the moment. If it's a homicide, then heyjackass.com has it right, and so did the trib this morning. 84(85) on the month, 487(488) homicides on the year, and 2,800+ shot altogether on the year. If you take away CPD killings then it's still 480+ Murders on the year. Add the Arson victims over the past 2 weeks and we probably have already surpassed last years homicide total (491) even if you take away any self defense killings that have happened over the year also. Something fishy is going on with these numbers the media is deciding to put out.

Maybe SCC's readers could help fill in some of the missing homicides??? Afterall, it is public information and would eventually be found after numerous FOIA requests...... heck, pointing out the "death investigations" which should be classified as murders would actually save the city the legal costs of trying to hide those homicides from FOIA requests, and then that money could be used for pension funds or even more flower pots on Michigan Avenue.....

Good thing the mayor promoted an African American to superintendent (someone who didn't even put in for it). Hows that working out for the city Rahm. Maybe he should try another strategy. Hahaha

Hey SCC,

The 4 arson deaths from Essex are included, the 2 from Laflin are not. The ME has them as pending the CPD's investigation, but will almost certainly be included at some point.

Here's another August pending death investigation involving arson - http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-young-child-found-dead-after-small-fire-in-abandoned-englewood-building-20160803-story.html

Including those 3 makes 90 a virtual lock.

The first edition of the article which ran the night of the 29th used HeyJackAss numbers exactly. It was a definite copy-paste job by the thieving Trib.

If you are a Chicago COP,
Thugs and punks you shall not stop.
Now you must give them free reign
To shoot, stab, murder and maim.
This is your guidance from above,
So hug a thug, and show some love!

Murder Capital, we are. The birthplace of Vote Pandering and Civic Corruption.
I believe that the Media sits on stories awaiting City Hall approval, thereby the stats are delayed a day or two.
Just a case of editing and with Rahm's enormous media affairs and public relations staff being constantly overwhelmed with the body counts changing every hour. Things are going to be haywire and nutty.
Chicago is a disgraced metropolis and a decades honed example of an established corrupt enterprise.
Another Democrat in the WH and the disease will be forever untreatable.

Do nothing and ride out your years for the 1st & 16th.

I won't take my wife and kids downtown - and I want to - but I won't.

And I am fully aware that the murder rate has dropped by 50% since I came on this job. But the roving bands of assholes has increased. The nonsense has increased. I can live with murders.

And the Democrats plan to reduce all of the murders in Democrat controlled Big cities is micro-stamping bullets, which has been tried a number of times in attempting to pass such laws in anti-gun states.

The NRA has explained for many years how it is unworkable, but that makes no difference to the Dims.

State lawmaker wants to curb Chicago crime by tracking bullets

Posted 12:25 PM, August 30, 2016, by Tonya Francisco, Updated at 12:56pm, August 30, 2016

CHICAGO -- An Illinois State Representative from Chicago is addressing the violence epidemic in the city, in a different way.

Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, represents some of the most crime-ridden communities, including Englewood and the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Harper introduced her plan Tuesday for a bill that would require ammunition makers to stamp serial numbers on every bullet sold in Illinois.

Harper says shootings would go down, because it would be easier to track providers of illegally acquired ammunition.

CHICAGO (WLS) --
An Illinois state lawmaker plans to propose a bill that would require serial numbers be stamped on all ammunition sold in Illinois.

State Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, believes that serial numbers would help track bullets and help police identify those who are illegally distributing ammunition.

"We're not trying to get rid of responsible gun owners guns, we just want to know how the guns and the bullets are getting into the hands of our youth and causing senseless harm and murder," Harper said.

Harper was joined on Tuesday by several state lawmakers, Chicago aldermen and others in support of the proposal.

Harper said she hopes to file the bill later this week.
