You’re making your final decisions on what to be: Channel “Stranger Things?” Go classic? Finally achieve the ultimate Jon Snow? Whether you’re DIYing or dropping some serious dough at a costume or party shop, you don’t want to be all dressed up with nowhere to go. Here is a roundup of Halloween parties in the Denver area where you can monster mash the night away (dressed as Elaine from “Seinfeld,” obviously).

Coloween at The Curtis

The Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver will be transformed into a frightful open-bar party that is not for your fly-by-night partiers. Coloween features two levels of haunted hallways and entertainment…and that’s just to lead you to the three ballrooms featuring DJs and live music set by light shows and theatrical performers. Dress to impress — there is a $1,500 costume contest.

Century-old Mile High Station is the scene of this spooky ball with a $1,000 Best of The Ball costume contest. The event features live Halloween entertainment and DJs mixing Top 40, dance, hip-hop and more. Multiple open bars included in your entry will be scattered around the ballroom and mezzanine. There are a limited amount of 800 non-refundable tickets available.

Spooky Speakeasy
Terminal Bar

Terminal Bar inside Denver’s Union Station will be showing scary movies starting at 9 p.m. while a nearby DJ spins creepy tunes. In true Terminal Bar fashion, Halloween cocktails and beer specials will be offered and the night will feature a costume contest with prizes — the grand prize being a one-night stay at The Crawford Hotel and a $100 gift card to Denver Union Station.

Paranormal Palace
Oct. 29 at 9 p.m.

With more than 30 performers, thousands of costumed guests, live music and DJs, Paranormal Palace has been one of Denver’s top Halloween parties, selling out all seven years. Held in the newly remodeled McNichols building, the party goes all out with decorations and hosts a $2,000 costume contest and open bar with proceeds going to charity.

What better place to celebrate the dead than a museum? Uncover mummies and mammoths while you yourself are dressed as a zombie. Also part of the event, check out the exhibits Extreme Mammals and Mummies: New Secrets from the Tombs.

The ultimate Halloween location in Colorado, the historic haunted Stanley Hotel is boasting its biggest Halloween lineup ever with what they are calling the Twin Terror Weekends to celebrate the 2016 Halloween season. The horror kicks off with the Redrum Mystery Dinner on Friday, Oct. 21 for a suspenseful gourmet dinner. The Shining Ball returns on Oct. 22 with a live performance by the North Mississippi All Stars and a parade of macabre costumes through the hotel.

The second weekend kicks off with the Boo Bash on Friday, Oct. 28 and a Halloween Masquerade Party Oct. 29. Both evenings feature live music, dancing, drinks and food. Costumes are required for several parties and awards will be offered to the best ones. Check The Stanley’s website for details.

If you’re less into spooky Halloween and more into period dressing, Denver is offering two opportunities to break out the Hammer pants and Kelly Kapowski dresses.

Talk about an epic Halloween. Stay overnight in the Museum of Nature and Science’s diorama halls, but not before trick-or-treat challenges, an IMAX film, exploring exhibits and more spooky fun. Tickets include a pizza dinner, evening snack, hot breakfast and candy. The event is for families with kindergarten to 8th grade children only.

Glow at the Gardens

A larger-than-life display lights up Denver Botanic Gardens when elaborate jack-o-lanterns grace the gardens. Two themes over two weekends: Fables & Fairy Tales Oct. 19 and 20, and Spooky Hollow Oct. 26 and 27. The event also features live music, spooky storytelling, free face painting, a costume contest and more.

Boo at the Zoo

Boo at the Zoo offers more than 25 trick-or-treat stations, animal demonstrations and family-friendly entertainment set beneath the foliage inside the zoo. Boo After Dark on Oct. 28 and 29 takes the fun into the evening.

Trick or Treat Train

Catch a ride to The Railroad Halloween Town behind a historic locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume. Inside the town you can fill your treat bags and check out “haunted” railcars and the Olde Railroaders silly graveyard. Be sure to stop for a photo opp in your costume in front of the Pumpkin Patch cart.

Kids Halloween Parade and Party

The third annual Kids Halloween Parade & Party will take place at Denver’s Union Station on Thursday, Oct. 27th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and feature trick-or-treating, a costume parade and contest with prizes. Winners include best group or family costumes, so get everyone in the spirit! Princesses, stilt walkers and other characters will be on hand and a DJ will be playing Halloween hits.
