ESPN: Seahawks will be best NFL team for years

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks have a stable organization with a track record of unearthing talent through the draft and a roster full of standouts at their positions, including a franchise quarterback just entering his prime.

Translation: They should be good for a while.

That, at least, is what ESPN's "2016 Future Power Rankings" concluded on Monday. Seattle ranked first on the list, in which experts Louis Riddick, Mike Sando and Field Yates scored teams from 0-100 on their projected strength in five categories: roster (excluding quarterback), quarterback, draft, front office and coaching.

The Seahawks ranked near the top of the league in their scores for roster, quarterback and coaching, tying for second in front office score with the Super Bowl 50 champion Denver Broncos, one spot behind the New England Patriots, the winners of Super Bowl XLIX (as Seahawks fans might remember).

Seattle's lowest score (86.0) came in the draft category, but even that mark topped the league.

"The Seahawks have hit on an incredible number of players in the mid-to-late rounds, all while keeping the number of early-round busts to an absolute minimum," wrote Riddick, a former NFL player and front-office executive. "This speaks to the philosophical alignment between coach and GM that has to exist in order to have sustainable success."

Ryan, Colonna married in Mexico

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wasn't the only Seattle player to get married last week. Punter Jon Ryan and comedian Sarah Colonna wed in a seaside ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Saturday.

The two started dating after Ryan asked comedian Ross Mathews to put in a good word with Colonna in 2014. Mathews performed the couple's ceremony on Saturday.
