Kyrgyzstan vs South Korea Prediction & Match Preview

Peter Green - January 8, 2019

Kyrgyzstan vs South Korea
AFC Asian Cup
Date: Friday, 11th January 2019
Kick-off at 16.00 UK/ 17.00 CET
Venue: Hazza bin Zayed Stadium (Al Ain).

Kyrgyzstan tried to do the impossible and almost got near the finish point in their last match. The mighty Chinese were given a run for their money and it was only some major luck that helped the Team Dragon to scrape through.

The White Falcons were leading at half time and went into the dressing room with high hopes. But an own goal by Pavel Matjas helped China to put some added pressure and later win the game. The winning goal came in the 78th minute.

Despite losing, the team will be high in confidence due to their stellar performance.

South Korea will not be pleased with themselves after getting an easier draw against the Philippines and still managing to win only by one goal. Gaffer Paulo Bento will have to employ some new tactics if they are to do justice to their proud football tradition and progress further deep into the tournament.

The frontline will have to become more disciplined as five shots on goal from 16 attempts are not acceptable for a strong team like that of Taegeuk Warriors.

Kyrgyzstan vs South Korea Head-to-head (h2h)

These two teams have never played against each other.

Kyrgyzstan vs South Korea Prediction

Paulo Bento will want his boys to make a statement to the remaining teams and shake off any sense of relaxation or complacency from the dressing room. Most probably this match will be the final opportunity for the Taegeuk Jeonsa to play as overwhelming favorites. China’s presence in the group will also act as a catalyst for the team to perform well in this tie.

Korea will want to top the group and for that, they will have to win this match for sure. And if recent form is any indication, the team will achieve that objective. Bento’s men are on a nine-match unbeaten run and kept clean sheets in their last three games, and in six of their last nine ties. Expect a clean sheet by the team captained by magnetic Spurs player Son-Heung Min.

Their opponents for the game, Kyrgyzstan, lost three of their last five matches, and the remaining two were against weaklings Philippines and Jordan.

Expect South Korea to win this match convincingly. A +1 advantage in European Handicap for the White Falcons will not matter much to this determined group.
