At Home Spa Day Ideas

At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere Who doesn’t love going to the spa but just cannot find the time?  I know I do, but since we have had children, there isn’t much time for a relaxing spa day anywhere in my schedule! I am lucky to get to enjoy a spa if we happen to go on vacation to a resort, maybe once or twice a year. I’m sure you all can relate, not to mention the cost of going to a spa can be pricey. Taking time for yourself is important, especially if you are taking care of children, elderly parents or are working constantly at your job and left feeling depleted with little to no downtime for yourself. At the beginning of the year, I decided to change that and bring the spa to me. It is really simple to do and the benefits have been so worth it. Read below for tips on how I enjoy an at home spa day and treat myself to some MUCH needed alone time…At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and CashmereAt Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere

7 AT HOME SPA DAY IDEAS:

  • Make sure the kids are in bed. This usually means I take time for an at home spa day after bedtime, when the house is quiet. I let my husband know not to disturb me for a bit so I can fully relax and destress.
  • Set the scene with candles and music. We have a nice, large bathtub where I love to soak. Does anyone else love scalding hot water in their baths? Ha, I do! I love to gather lots of candles and get some relaxing music playing on my phone while the bath is pouring. I put in some plain Epsom salt and a nice bath oil or a few drops of essential oils. I will always grab a drink before I get into the tub. It may be a glass of red wine or some ice water with lemon and cucumber, whatever you like best. You want to stay hydrated during your hot bath.At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere
  • Dry brush your skin. This one isn’t very relaxing per say, but it does leave your skin glowing. I do this before getting into the tub or shower a few times per week. It exfoliates all of the dead skin from your body with the brush while your skin is dry. It is also good for circulation and cellulite. Brush your skin starting at your feet, while making long upward strokes toward your heart. It is amazing to see all of the dead skin flake off, especially in the winter. My elbows have appreciated this the most!At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and CashmereAt Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and CashmereAt Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere
  • Get some moisture in your hair while you soak. If you are like me, and your hair takes a beating from hair color and heated hair tools, then you need something ultra-moisturizing to use on your hair. I was recently introduced to a new product called Hair FoodThe Moisture collection (shampoo and conditioner) is infused with a honey apricot fragrance . Hair Food has pure ingredients and their products are free of parabens, mineral oils, silicones, sulfates, or dyes (dependent on the collection). Since I have a smoothing treatment done to my hair and highlights every 10 weeks, I ALWAYS use something free of sulfates and parabens without a doubt. It makes your hair color last longer too. The price point is great and it smells like you could literally eat it! One tip I would like to share: After using the Hair Food shampoo, apply a generous amount of the Hair Food conditioner and then put a plastic shower cap over your hair while you soak. The heat from the bath (or shower) will help infuse the product into your hair even more. I like to leave the conditioner on for 10 minutes or longer. Then rinse as usual. At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and CashmereAt Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere
  • Don’t forget your face. I like to use a few cucumber slices (if I have one in the fridge) or tea bags over my eyes. Lord knows they look TIRED by the end of the week. I have also been using the latest trend in facial masks during my at home spa day…Japanese sheet masks. Think of a mask over your entire face with holes for your eyes and mouth. They are available everywhere…I have recently been using a brightening mask on my skin during my spa time.
  • Before the bath is over, scrub your body. I know you already did this with the dry brush, but this homemade scrub will get some moisture into your skin. I like to use brown sugar and olive oil and scrub my entire body. Your skin will soak it up. I also use a gentle facial scrub on my face and lips too. Be careful when exiting your tub that your feet aren’t too slippery from the olive oil.At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere
  • As soon as you are out of the bath, apply a light body lotion or body oil to your skin. Experts say you need to seal in the moisture from the water within 3 minutes of exiting a shower or bath. This helps to trap the moisture in your skin. I also like to apply the lotion to my feet and then put on some cozy socks to sleep in. You will wake up with the softest heels ever.

After using some or all of these at home spa day tips, I promise you will be left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Don’t feel guilty about taking an hour for yourself, if you are recharged you will be happier and more eager to take on all the tasks of the day. Also, remember to check out the Hair Food Moisture Collection next time you are at your local WalMart. Your hair will thank you!At Home Spa Day Ideas by popular Oklahoma lifestyle blogger Curls and Cashmere
