Nicci has a good life after a hard childhood. She is married and has a wonderful son. However her past won't let her go. Nick was brought up in foster care and now volunteers to help kids that are leaving foster care. The story hints at the very beginning that her marriage is not as good as it seems. As we learn more about Nick and her painful past, we learn she is a fighter. She'll do whatever she has to in order to protect her son. I could not believe how many twists there was! It kept me guessing and I loved it!

4.5- Wow! That was quite the page-turner I didn't expect. Another ARC from netgalley and I loved this gripping new novel from Sam Hepburn. A good mother is about Nicola, a young woman who was brought up in foster care and who was forced to face the adult world without help or support. Just when it feels her life's turning around, married the perfect husband, built the perfect home her past comes to haunt her. How far will a mother go to protect her son?? A fast-paced psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns and a nice climax to finish. It starts off a bit slow the first quarter of the book but picks up a good pace till the very end. Definitely worth a read especially on a rainy day during the lockdown :)

Sam Hepburn is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! She brings another heartrending story that ratchets up tons of tension and twists that you can't see coming your way. Another solid read! Many thanks for NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
