The service here is incredibly attentive! Awesome chips and queso! I ordered the green chili enchilada and it tasted very authentic, not like tex mex.

El Mundo is a Mexican restaurant located in an older building on Frankfort Avenue. While the restaurant has made a good effort to make the best use of the space, the atmosphere could undoubtedly benefit from some renovations. The bathroom being located inside the kitchen is also a potential issue for some customers who require more accessible facilities. It's far from ADA compliant.
During our visit, the server seemed overwhelmed since she was the only one on shift. Our food arrived promptly, and it was alright. The restaurant does charge for chips and salsa, which may be surprising to some customers. While the portion sizes are decent, the prices are relatively high, making it potentially less cost-effective for budget-conscious customers.
The restaurant's ambiance leaves something to be desired, with the decor and general cleanliness feeling somewhat neglected. However, El Mundo is an option for those seeking Mexican cuisine. The dishes are so-so, and some of them are large enough to share, making it an option for solo diners or a couple on a date. Whatever the case, it beats the cactus looking Mexican restaurant across the street.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Bill R.Louisville, KY60192460Nov 22, 2023Updated review
Super local place! Best margaritas in town. Wednesday and Thursday are margarita night (house are 4.99). Everyday menu items are super tasty and always consistent. The weekly specials always are tasty and creative. Don't forget to try the weekly cheesecake rotator. Mike makes the best cheesecakes. In good weather, sit out on the patio super relaxing place to chill.

Hands down best Mexican around. Or should I say margaritas and chips/queso. It's small inside but perfect setting. Stopped by for afternoon holiday margarita and some queso. They have a great happy hour with $5 margaritas and $5 chips and queso.
The queso is not your traditional bland white queso. This had great flavor but not over powering. Consistency was spot on vs what you get at other places that just drips everywhere.
The house margaritas for $5 were strong and good. And not syrupy at all. Could have drank those all night!!!
Next tried the shrimp and avocado appetizer size quesadilla. Had a sour cream drizzle. It was good but could have used a spicy cream sauce vs just sour cream. But over all great place and will be back!
Our server was great and took care of us at a great pace. Wasn't pushy or absent. Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

A cozy and quirky spot with solid Mexican food and solid service. A group of about 8 of us visited this week and had a great experience. I hadn't visited in years but it seemed like nothing had changed (that's a good thing). I'm on a fitness journey which usually doesn't mesh well with eating Mexican but the Zicatella salad with grilled chicken was a great lighter option. I was also delighted that they offer kombucha, my favorite. I

This is for delivery only! I'm nine months pregnant and not really up to going out right now. My husband got our food delivered through door dash. We both have never ate El Munro before but we've heard excellent things. We got queso and chips, and my husband got a bison quesadilla. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. The queso was smoky and super cheesy. The chips were hot and fresh, and you could tell they were handmade at the restaurant. We both liked it but my husband thought "there were too many chiles in it." Anyway, I like mine with more chiles in it though, so it was amazing to me. My husband really liked his quesadilla, and we don't know of any other Mexican restaurant that offers bison as a meat option. The enchiladas were excellent, and I really loved the sauce on top! I can't wait to try El Mundo in person especially after delivery so I can try the alcoholic beverages. We will definitely be back.

After a very short wait we were seated in the small area upstairs. Our chosen appetizer was chips and queso which contains 3 different cheeses (oaxaca, Blanco and chihauhau) blended with tomato, spinach and chipotle. The Cheese was warm and really flavorful. While it was not mentioned in the ingredients, the queso seemed to have a hint of garlic to really make the flavors pop.
Our server was the bartender and he
was quite attentive to us even though he was busy.
The decorations (upstairs) were very colorful, much like the decorations at many Mexican restaurants. But these somehow seemed more cozy and made the place far more welcoming.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The prices, decor and locations are optimal.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Tom B.Estepona, Spain014Jun 14, 2023
Fish tacos are good as it gets, also like their mole enchiladas. They are well established in crescent hill, I remember them since 1996 when we moved back to crescent hill always having consistently good quality meals. I I've enjoined many a cervesa on a stool waiting for my takeout.

Stopped by for a weeknight dinner, I was able to grab a small table upstairs. We tried the dippity do the sampling for four dips and they were all great. I had a frozen margarita which was ok, but on special for $5, can't beat that. I also had the veggie quesadilla which was just what I expected, a classic option
