Supporting Youth Transitions in Buckinghamshire: Interim Report

In partnership with The Rothschild Foundation

23rd June 2021

We are pleased to share the first report from our collaboration with The Rothschild Foundation, which explores the experiences and transitions of young people aged 16 to 24 in Buckinghamshire.

You can read the full interim report here, and the summary, here.

Recognising the challenge that the pandemic has imposed on the younger generation, we wanted to better understand what it’s like to grow up in Buckinghamshire, and what pathways into education and employment might be available.

The Rothschild Foundation’s grant-making through its Covid-19 Support Fund has illustrated the disruption and isolation young people have experienced, and highlighted concerns in digital exclusion, job prospects, mental health and well-being. This report provides detailed and data-led evidence of the current Buckinghamshire context and lays the groundwork for a consultation with young people in the coming months.

For example, we used a variety of data sources to visually map the opportunities currently available to young people in Buckinghamshire.

During the next phases of the project we are consulting widely with stakeholders including young people across Buckinghamshire. If you’d like to get involved in our consultation, please contact Billy Huband-Thompson ([email protected]).

Our final report will be published in the Autumn, and enable The Rothschild Foundation and other partners to identify successful approaches that could be piloted in Buckinghamshire, and existing local provision that could be supported or scaled up, forming a key strand of our Strategic grant-making in future.
