About the author

A USA Today bestselling, award-winning author, A. M. Madden is also a Jersey girl whose addiction to romance started at twelve after reading Judy Blume’s Forever.
As a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, she truly believes that true love knows no bounds.
In her books, she aspires to write fun, sexy, love stories that will stay with you long after you turn the last page. She creates realistic characters and believes there’s no better compliment than when readers feel they know the characters personally.
When not writing, she’s busy being a wife to her soul mate, and a mother to two boys who she believes are the most handsome men on earth. She loves to cook, hates to bake, and dreams about living at the beach someday.

I’ve been sat staring at my laptop for the past hour trying to figure out where to start with my review. All I can come up with is I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I LOVE SAM STANTON.
Sam is brilliant at his job and is right where he wants to be in all aspects of his life – or so he pretends to be. Six years ago the love of his life left him and as much as he thinks he is over her, he clearly isn’t. He’s in a safe relationship and spends most of his time in the office being an ass to his work colleagues but getting the job done. That is until Lydia, the one who shattered his heart, walks into his office.
As their worlds collide, can the two of them reconcile their differences and get along for the sake of their jobs or is there just too much hostility between them to work in the same city, let alone the same company.
This book can be read as a standalone and does feature slightly Sam’s younger sister Rebecca who we met in Love on the Horizon. I can’t say too much about the book without giving away spoilers. What I can say is that Ann Marie knows how to write complex and intriguing characters who you will both fall in love with and dislike with a passion. The alternative POV’s help to weave the story of 2 people who might be perfect for each but just don’t realise it. There is everything you need in this book for a 5 star read and this just cements her place as an author who I will always one click without any hesitation.
The characters in this story will grab at you heartstrings, especially Sam who is an arrogant a@@hole and at times while reading Hostile Workplace I was thinking really dude, geez! But he has a heart of gold and is loyal and loving to those he cares for even his best friend Liam who with his quirky sense of humor had me laughing out loud a few times while reading.
Hostile Workplace turns up the heat in this series, it was HOT! HOT! HOT! The ambivalence and sexual tension between Sam & Lydia was passionate and intense. The perfect recipe for a great romance! Their story is one you wish had an epilogue of 500+ pages because you just don't want to let go of this story.
Family dynamics, Turmoil and the Sexy Sensuality make Hostile Workplace one of best books written by AM Madden.

I really enjoyed the push and pull of these characters and recommend this author!

Hostile Workplace starts off quite lighthearted, it's Sam and Judy but it's not what it seems you soon realise he's with Ginny, Lydia isn't around at this point.
One things for sure Sam isn't the same Sam as he used to be, you can only wonder what has happened and what is going on in his world.
The mention of Sam's sister Rebecca from Love on The Horizon made me smile just thinking about her and Marco's story bought back great memories and she along with Cooper and Liam are always quick to give advice.
This story takes a turn for the better when Elizabeth reveals some life changing news that Sam doesn't even know about and it's from this point that we start to get little bits of information but that's all it is little bits... just enough to keep you dangling.
There's a build up to Lydia showing up what with possible sightings of her Sam is already on high alert and again this story takes another turn, it becomes absolutely riveting.
With Ginny and now Judy Sam has got so much drama going on, add Lydia into the mix and it becomes tenfold, honestly with all the misunderstandings, deceit and worst of all lies this story becomes more and more gripping.
I always love the name dropping from other stories... in this case it was Quint Lawson from The Shotstop and what a brilliant story that was.!
As the storyline continues so does Sam and Lydia's issues and you wonder how it's all going to turn out... will they won't they and A.M. Madden keeps you guessing until the end at one point thinking the worst.
I won't say how it ended because you will have to read it and find out your self... it's another fantastic story in this series.!

Hostile Workplace was so good that I will happily be buying Hostile Workplace on release day. A review and book purchase are my ways of saying thanks to Ms. Madden for a wonderful evening of entertainment. I laughed. I cried. I stopped my feet. I cursed. I smiled. I gotta say that is a lot of emotion for what the book will cost on release day.
Hostile Workplace is book #2 in the Breaking the Rules Series. Rebecca, from Love on the Horizon, is Sam’s little sister. She isn’t afraid to tell Sam what she thinks—and it is good. Their brother, Cooper, likes to share his opinion on Sam’s stupidity almost as much. btw—have you read Love on the Horizon? If not, you need to pick it up—-Marco-Oh My!! Ricky—hilarious, I want him as my BFF, and Rebecca, little girl lost. Together they are the perfect ingredients for a "can’t put it down" romance.
Sam Thurston works in advertising. He is the stereotypical Ad Executive—too many hours working with too little down time. He has been going “through the motions of living” since his high school. Six years has done nothing to repair his heart. He is great at his job. He has great ideas. Too bad he sucks as a team leader.
The workplace becomes a place of great hostility. Hostile implies many things—angry words, bad decisions, taking sides, angry desk sex, challenges, competition. You name it, you will find it within the pages of Hostile Workplace.
Hostile Workplace is one of those books that had me waiting for the other shoe to drop. It had me wishing bad things on some of the characters. Things would seem to be going so well and then BAM. Something or someone would interfer. How could I get my HEA if Sam wasn't happy.

Now six years later and Sam is a changed man, he is jaded and slightly angry, and feeling trapped and unhappy, especially with his now fiance. His life takes an even bigger turn when Lydia walks into his life as competition for the job he wants. To say that there is animosity between them is an understatement.
I felt the worst for Lydia. She was given the most crap about what happened six years before when she did nothing to deserve it. Yes she believed the lies, but who could say they wouldn't with so many people you were supposed to trust were telling them?
Sam, I was a little po'd at him. Gennie? really Sam?! Of all the girls to rebound with?! That was a creep move of his. Then hooking up with Judy at work, just yuck. Honestly, I didn't really care much for him the entire book.
There is an HFN. I do look forward to Cooper's book.
