Nolensville News – Friday, April 26th, 2024
Town Manager
The Town of Nolensville was recently given a grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation which is aimed at using State American Rescue Plan funds to implement water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects. We have selected a consulting engineering firm, Neel-Schaffer, Inc., to perform a Town-wide inventory and condition assessment of Nolensville’s stormwater assets, develop a Town-wide stormwater study, and develop plans for stormwater capital improvement projects resulting from the study’s recommendations. Teams of personnel will be seen around Nolensville collecting information on the Town’s stormwater system. They will be wearing bright-colored vests and carrying iPads and survey equipment to collect information on the storm infrastructure between March 20 and mid-June. If you have any questions, please contact Don Swartz, Town Engineer (dswartz@nolensvilletn.gov) or Chuck Downham, Assistant Town Manager (cdownham@nolensvilletn.gov).

The Town of Nolensville is pleased to announce its partnership with Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) to assist in ensuring the accuracy of special census data. Field workers and town employees have conducted and completed door-to-door visits throughout Nolensville in record time. The next step will be for GNRC to finish their portion of the verification process in office before our census is sent to the state. Thank you to our community for making this step in the process a seamless one!

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is conducting a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study to establish the vision for the Downtown Nashville Interstate Corridors network and how future Choice Lanes projects in the Downtown Nashville area could potentially connect or expand on the larger system.

The PEL Study considers the benefits and impacts of proposed transportation system improvements to the environment, community and economy during the early transportation planning process.

This Downtown Nashville Interstate Corridors PEL Study includes 45 miles of interstate segments:

  • I-65, I-24 and I-40 – the “Inner Loop” in Downtown Nashville
  • I-65 from SR 155 (Thompson Lane) to the Inner Loop
  • I-440 from I-65 to I-24/I-40
  • I-24 from Inner Loop to I-65 interchange (north of Downtown Nashville)
  • I-40, from Inner Loop to Elm Hill Pike
  • I-24 from I-40 to I-840 (south of Downtown Nashville)

From April 1-30, 2024, information will be available at https://bit.ly/Nash-PEL-Study for you to review and share your feedback. TDOT wants this PEL Study to be collaborative and meaningful, as your input is critical to the future of this corridor. Although the public comment period will officially end on April 30, 2024, all the information about the ongoing Planning and Environmental Linkages Study will remain accessible for the duration of the study. We encourage you to learn about these exciting plans and offer your feedback as a member of our community!

Visit the website (and submit your feedback) at: https://bit.ly/Nash-PEL-Study. You can also submit your feedback by calling the PEL Study hotline at (615) 451-8039 or by sending it via email to TDOT.BuildWithUs@tn.gov.

Thank you to Ross Muirhead for attending the IMBA’s two-day model community trail workshop last week in Bentonville, Arkansas. This workshop lead participants through the recipe for a model community trail system: planning, design, building, activation, promotion and measuring success. As the Chair for the Tree and Trails Advisory Committee in Nolensville, this opportunity allowed Ross to share his passion and work together with his committee to impact the future of our Town positively.

Fire Department
The new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) Bauer fill station and compressor was installed this week because of a grant we received. We had several of our personnel completed training on it. Once the air quality is tested and passed it will be operational.

We have 32 applicants that will be testing this upcoming weekend for our full-time firefighter list that currently has one immediate opening.

Our new station is coming along nicely. The flooring and wall finishes are the current priority along with installing appliances and gym equipment.
