We all have a few worn-out garden hoses we've been meaning to get rid of. Don't throw them out just yet. Using nothing more than some old hoses and a bag of zip ties, you can create a whimsical outdoor rug that will add a splash of color to your back porch or patio.

Devised by blogger Ann of Our Garden Path Designs, this crafty piece is actually super simple to make. Start by cutting off the metal ends of the hoses. Then, fold your first hose in half and zip tie it together. Then, keep wrapping the slack end of the hose around the center hoses to make an echoing pattern.

Once you use the entirety of your first hose, it's time to tie on the next one. There is no science as to how many zip ties you should use and how far apart to space them, but Ann spaced them about four inches apart in her tutorial. To create an ombre effect, you can also use hoses of varying colors.

You could also make a smaller one for a garage or a mudroom. For the full tutorial, head to Our Garden Path Designs.
