Itsie Bitsie Rescue started with a mom and daughter team doing community service for a junior high-class requirement. The duo continued their work after the daughter joined the California Army National Guard and worked at the headquarters, which was right around the corner from the old Sacramento County Animal Shelter. She kept bringing home multiple kittens for foster care and then would return to the county for adoption. In July 2012, they incorporated Itsie Bitsie Rescue as an official non-profit group and began growing the rescue. In 2022, Itsie Bitsie Rescue had over 75 foster homes, 19 volunteers, and 9 teen volunteers to help with adoption center cleaning, setup, and additional adoption events.

Giving Activity

Mission

To provide safe shelter, love, and time to develop for unweaned kittens and puppies.

Needs

Monetary donations allow us to cover costs of veterinary visits, prescription medicines, food, vaccines, microchips, and spay and neuter costs. Some of this is recovered through adoption fees, however, medicines and vet bills can add up quickly. As a result of last year's donations, we were able to take in additional medical cases and save more lives.

It takes lots of things to keep orphaned animals going. In the first stages, it's formula, bottles, blankets. Then into grower stage where the need is litter and puppy pads, learning to eat kibble, toys, carriers, and more toys.
