Entry requirements
At Stobart, we are wanting to progress newly qualified C+E Drivers to work alongside our 5000 strong workforce that is continuing to grow by the day.
As a Driver for us, you’ll be the key link between our business and the customers we work with, ensuring our work is delivered professionally, efficiently, and of course, on time!
Candidates must have
Full car driving license
A full car driving license for a minimum of 2 years, with a maximum of 3 penalty points
A digital tachograph card
Provisional category C license and Digital Tachograph Card
Theory Test Certificates
Theory Test Certificates for; multiple choice, hazard perception & DCPC Mod 2 case study
Language requirement
Fluent in English
What we offer
- Our bespoke training programme boasts fully supported practical training in just six days
- Over 40 hours, on a 2:1 basis. 20 hour experience behind the wheel and 20 hours observation in cab
- All your practical training and test fees are fully funded*
- In-house LGV instructor team to support you every mile of the way
- Dedicated instructors on hand to help you meet all your legislative requirements and to keep our drivers safe
Your practical test
The final stage to become a qualified LGV driver is your practical test, this will take place on your seventh day of training and be carried out by our own delegated examiner.**
All your practical training and test fees are fully funded, and you will sign up to a 2-year training agreement to stay with Stobart in a driving capacity from the date you successfully obtain your license with us.*
*subject to operational needs **No additional travel or accommodation costs would be covered within your training.
Our schools
We have two Training Centres that provide training for our UK operation. These training centres boast dedicated, fit for purpose facilities, and are located in Rugby (CV23 0AE) and Warrington (WA2 8JP)

We do more than just train you; we’ll also help and support you with coaching and mentoring with experienced drivers. From mirror, signal, and manoeuvre, we’ll give you all the training and expertise you need before you take your next steps to go out on the road as a fully-fledged Stobart Driver.
The road doesn’t end here, this is a steppingstone into a long & successful career as a Stobart Class 1 Driver. We will support and guide you with our fantastic in-house training & mentoring team, surrounded by experienced drivers and trained professionals to ensure you are fully confident and equipped with expertise before you take to the road as a fully-fledged Stobart Driver.

Before practical training, we would ask you to complete your medical, receive your provisional entitlement and tacho card and complete your theory tests prior to the recruitment process. Once all of these steps are completed this will position you in the green profile, ready for practical training.

Learner
You are just now learning about Stobart Driving School opportunities and want to take the first steps to start your journey. The below steps will help you start.
- Order your D2 (provisional form) and D4 (medical form) off the DVLA website here
- Book a LGV medical examination with a provider of your choice – the doctor will fill out the D4 form
- Send the completed D2 & D4 forms off to DVLA and you will receive your provisional entitlement on your licence
- Order your Digi card from DVLA website here
- Book and pass your theory test, consisting of multiple choice, hazard perception and CPC Mod 2 case study here
Almost ready
You are part way through your journey and have your licence back from the DVLA with your C+E provisional entitlement on
- The next stage is for you to book and pass your theory test, consisting of multiple choice, hazard perception and CPC Mod 2 case study here.
- Once you have your dates booked, you can submit your formal Application Here

An invite to attend a Microsoft team’s interview with a Driving School Training Coordinator, to discuss the role in more detail, rates of pay and more

To delve further into your skills and experience you may be invited to attend a short driving assessment with one of our experienced LGV instructors on site
