Clairmont Road Special Area Plan

The Clairmont Road Special Area Plan project was identified in the 2017 Planning Commission Work Program and approved by City Council as an action item based on the original Comprehensive Plan recommendations and the work done by the public with the consultant team as part of the Character Area Study 2016. Specifically, the Comprehensive Plan identified the constraints and opportunities for the corridor and the Character Area Study further refined the vision for the area, including formation of “big ideas” for future redevelopment. Additionally, Clairmont has been a focus area in other planning documents such as the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trail Plan.

The intent of the current project is to bring focus to this key corridor based on previous recommendations from the public and to create a joint study with the cities of Brookhaven and Chamblee. The combined study document will create a consistent vision in this corridor. The area to be addressed is from Buford Highway to the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. The Chamblee portion is part of the small area plan within Chamblee’s Comprehensive Plan Major Update contract. Brookhaven’s portion will be adopted as a standalone planning document.
