Professional Development Trainings
In order to better serve out-of-school time (OST) practitioners' professional development needs, we have added new and exciting training workshops and have aligned topics by relevance (tracks) to core competencies. Training topics are grouped in such a way that practitioners can clearly see which sessions may be most beneficial for them, based on the core knowledge area that is addressed.

Engineer It!
March 10, 2018

Formally known as "Drop it, Thrill it, Float it, Launch it, Clean it," 
Engineer It! is an annual engineering design competition jointly presented to students in grades 1-12 by the Florida Engineering Society and the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. 

Cash and prizes of up to $5,000 will be awarded to winners in elementary, middle and high school categories! Special prize for the school with the most participants. Science Center educators will be on-site with exciting live science demos, activities and more, to entertain family members and general guests.

NAA Convention - where afterschool professionals and leaders gather to get inspired, connected, learn and share!
Join 2,000 members of the afterschool community for four days of networking, learning and inspiration. Activities include special events, workshops, daily keynotes and an interactive learning expo, all designed to meet the needs of the developing professionals, and emerging and current leaders of afterschool.


Community Denim Day

In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, Families First of Palm Beach County has created a way to raise awareness and funds for prevention efforts. 
On April 6, 2018, businesses and organizations can help raise awareness and funds by asking employees to donate $5 or more to be allowed to wear jeans for the day. The goal is to remind the entire community of the important role we all play in creating a safe and healthy future for our community's children. Funds will support Families First of Palm Beach County which has been providing services to successfully prevent abuse for 27 years

A new RAND Corporation study, funded by The Wallace Foundation explores how states, districts and schools can tap Every Student Succeeds Fundsfunds to support social and emotional learning. Although ESSA does not specifically reference SEL, it offers opportunities to foster school-based SEL interventions.

The Milagro Center is hiring two Group Leaders who will be responsible for teaching and/or supervising small groups of children during afterschool and summer camp activities, including, but not limited to homework time, playground time, art classes, Living Values classes, reading and computer time. This position will assist with parent pick-up and other direct program duties as assigned. Please note the selected candidate will be required to submit to any specificl requirements e.g., criminal records check.
