Dear Grantees and Partners,
I am writing to you today because the Lawson Foundation understands that what we are experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is challenging and unprecedented. This is especially true for so many of you who are providing crucial programs and services to people and communities across the country, and those who are leading important and transformational initiatives that are supporting the healthy development of children and youth.
First, we want all our grantees to know that payments will continue as usual. You can count on the funding that the Foundation has committed to you to do your work.
Second, the Foundation will provide you with increased flexibility in the way you spend the dollars that have been allocated to your project, initiative, or program so that you may more easily cover urgent costs that are essential to the running of your organization. Please consider the funds from the Foundation as unrestricted during these challenging times. This takes effect immediately.
Third, please do not worry about reporting on your progress at this time. If your next payment is linked to a progress or final report, don’t worry about that for the time being. We will ensure that funds flow and will reconnect with you when the crisis has passed to discuss a revised reporting schedule where relevant and applicable.
If you have any questions or particular issues or challenges you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
In closing, I should also add that since Monday, March 16, Lawson Foundation staff are working remotely. We have also either cancelled our various convening activities or are shifting to a virtual mode. This is to help ensure that our staff and our partners stay healthy and safe, and to contribute to the national effort to curb COVID-19.
I wish you all the best in these uncertain times. Bon courage!
