Note: This is an open source "Wordpress Plugin" volunteer position to work one of a kind project...

The Challenge

AdMerk.mobi is looking for a selected few students interns and volunteers (active or retired developers) of PHP, MySQL, WordPress plugin, HTML, CSS, jQuery worldwide with a good broadband connection to help us enhance the features and performance of  a WordPress plugin for 3 million concurrent users or higher.

In the current version of the Fantasy Football app, players can play against other users, predict outcomes of matches and earn points. Logged in users can predict outcomes of matches and earn extra points with bonus questions.  As a student intern or volunteer developers, you’ll be working on a specific tasks depending on your skills & passions — everything from doing development work on plugins that improve the functionality for added features and development.

Known Technical Issues to be solved...
According to the original developer, "the problem is in the calculation of the ranking and points. This is a complex piece of code that takes too long on a large set of users causing the server to time out. The code is in the admin/calculate-score-history.php file."

By January 2014, we plan to migrate the site on a scalable linux server with 2 database servers (8 to 30 Gig) and 2 to 6 webservers (2 to 4 Gig of ram) for optimal usage. Any counter proposal that is more cost effective and efficiently to balance the load for an expected peak of more than 3,000,000 concurrent users are welcome and would be appreciated. Why Football?
Football or Soccer is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball. According to a FIFA survey in the summer of 2000, "over 240 million people regularly play football around the world, along with almost five million referees, assistant referees and officials" are directly involved in football game in over 200 countries, making it the world's most popular sport".

AdMerk.mobi chose the open source model because we want to share the app FREE to all football fans. You, as developers will take apart in this major effort that will see the fruits of your labor result in iphones, androids, window mobile phones and tablets apps for all type of mobile devices.

Why Giving Away The FREE Fantasy Football Plugin As a Mobile App?
This will be a world wide effort for football fans to download our FREE Fantasy Football app on all types of mobile phones worldwide and onto some of the 60 million wordpress site owners to become the most concurrent use app and site of 2014. The goal is to allows millions of fans of football or soccer worldwide to predict outcome ot the opening matches between Brazil and Japan, subsequent games and the world cup final as well.

How will Football Fans Use the App?
Worldwide mobile phone users will download the app and notify them of a specific time to vote and predict outcome of matches worldwide in real-time regardless of time zone differences just before each world cup games.The fantasy pool will allow hundreds of millions of fans worldwide to feel as though they are part of the world’s greatest sporting event. Open Source Concept
An open source project means that anyone can take and freely modify the source code. WordPress is open source and the vast majority of WordPress plugins are opensource. Since the codes are open, any developers  can contribute to enhancements, add features and fix bugs. Therefore, in order to manage the project efficiently, PHP, MySQL, WordPress plugin development, HTML, CSS, jQuery developers must apply to modify the codes based on predefined priorities..

Why AdMerk.mobi Chose to Open Source?
1. AdMerk.mobi wants to give away the plugin to websites, converting it into mobile apps for all types of mobile devices and tablets for FREE as well as for Wordpress sites users. 
2. That decision is also based on the fact that there are more than 250 million players of football in over 200 countries and "over 60 million people have chosen WordPress to power their website on the web.
