CITY COUNCIL INAUGURATION 2018

The 2018 - 2022 Mayor and Council are:

Councillor David Chesney, Councillor Helen Fathers, Councillor Erika Johanson, Councillor Scott Kristjanson, Councillor Anthony Manning, and Councillor Christopher Trevelyan.

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of City Council was held at the City of White Rock Council Chambers. Mayor and Council received a presentation from the Director of Planning and Development Services regarding:
- The City's Official Community Plan
- The City's Zoning Bylaw; and
- Outline of Major Development Projects.

POP-UP GALLERY OPENING
On November 8, Mayor Walker attended the opening of the 10x10 Canvas and Mug Wall Show created by Semiahmoo Arts Society members at the Landmark Pop-Up Gallery. The current show is open from November 8 - December 16. Click here for more information.

HONORARY ELK
On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, Mayor Walker and members of council attended the White Rock Elks meeting where Mayor Walker was elected as an Honorary Elk. The White Rock Elks Lodge believes community involvement begins at home and aids others in various organizations with charitable donations to make a difference in our local community. At the November 19, 2018 Regular Council Meeting:
- Council received two delegations:
- The White Rock Business Improvement Association (BIA) provided a summary of activities and a look ahead into 2019.
- The White Rock Elementary Parent Advisory Council requested financial assistance toward a new playground and the delegation was referred to staff.
- Council received a presentation from Metro Vancouver's Division Manager for Information and Advisory Services and Compensation regarding recent initiatives, including the Regional Workforce Strategy.
- Council received a Corporate Report from the Director of Engineering and Municipal Operations titled "Solid Waste Management: Current Status of the Program". Council requested a review of the Solid Waste plan.
- Council received a Corporate Report from the Director of Financial Services titled "Water Services Bylaw, 2015, No. 2117, Amendement No.5, Bylaw, 2018, No.2276" and asked staff to report back wtih options in regards to the City's 2019 water rates.
- Council approved the 2019 Council Meeting schedule and can be found here.

CHRISTMAS ON THE PENINSULA
& CHRISTMAS PARADE

The City of White Rock is proud to be a sponsor of Christmas on the Peninsula, which offers a variety of original and unique gifts and delicious Christmas treats. There will be a combination of indoor and outdoor displays, activities and vendors and a mix of live music, carolers in traditional Victorian dress and more.
Don’t miss the Christmas parade starting at 4pm on Russell Avenue and the lighting of the Christmas tree at 4:30pm at Miramar Village Plaza. Click here for more event information.
