      Busy but fun as always.
I think Belgravia Court has become way too crowded. I wonder if there's a reason they don't close down 6th st and use it for booths and leave the walking courts as spots for picnic tables. I'm sure these discussions are held among the planners but it would make the experience a lot better rather than being herded down the walking court!

One of the quintessential, iconic experiences in Louisville, and annually one of the highest rated art shows in the entire United States. If you love art and creativity, magnificent architecture, and typically great fall weather, this is a must.

The art show is set in one of the nation's largest enclaves of Victorian homes and is spread over multiple blocks and streets. Nearly 700 artists are on hand showing their wares, ranging from uber expensive paintings, glass and sculptures, to more affordable ceramics, clothing, wood work, and just about anything else you can imagine. And you won't go hungry or thirsty with loads of food and beverage vendors.

Do realize you will likely do a lot of walking since there is limited parking in and around the Old Louisville neighborhood where the art show resides. In addition to having to typically park several blocks away from the show, you will be getting lots of steps in as you walk around to see the multitude of booths. If you don't want to look for parking around the art show area, there are shuttles that run from downtown Louisville where you can park and then bus in. Be sure to do an online search for those options.

St. James is a great excuse to come to Louisville for a visit, whether you are a frequent art show attendee or you are just looking for a wonderful outdoor fall experience.

This is a wonderful art show in a gorgeous setting! Be prepared to park and walk. The exhibits are also spread out over a number of streets. Enjoy the architecture and landscaping of the homes as you shop. There are plenty of food vendors available. Although many artists are local, there are plenty from around Kentucky, Indiana, and many other states. You won't want to miss this!

Something to look forward to every year! We love that this brings in art shops from all over the country. We are always able to find something unique here.
The parking is always a struggle so get here early to find a spot!

We drove 2 miles up Sixth Street past beautiful old homes and found street parking before getting to the Art Show. The Victorian brick homes in the backdrop were huge & spectacular with beautiful gardens.

Lots of local craftsmen presenting: paintings, glass work, jewelry, clothing, toys, silks, tiles, leather, fragrances, furniture, pens, housewares, wood & metal works .... Most of the vendors are local. It was a beautiful park with lots of beautiful things to look at. Food & cocktails were for sale also. There were 650 craftsmen displaying original pieces of art.

We had a good time at the St James Art Fair this weekend. Its a really nice place that has many art venders all from around the area and other states. It was super crowded and hot. So this being said my young daughters did not want to be there so we did not get to stay as long as my wife had wanted. But we will had a good time and will be back.

The St. James Court Art Show is held in the St. James-Belgravia Historic District in Old Louisville. Walking through Old Louisville is like walking back in time. Architectural styles include Antebellum, Queen Anne, Federal, and Italianate. There are mostly all preserved Victorian style homes. I can't say just how beautiful the architecture is!

The art show? Expansive! There are vendors selling paintings, jewelry, furniture, sculptures, and anything else you can think of. With over 700 vendors coming from all across America, you can find whatever you're looking for from the inexpensive to the "what will I do with this extra money from my inheritance?" :-)

There were many delicious food options as well as bars on wheels (liquor was flowing)! There are picnic tables set up to eat communal style. This art show is a great way to spend the day with your family, your children, and your friends. I can't wait for the next art show in October :-)

The Number 1 art show in the USA last year, there is a ton of really great stuff to see. And more than a day's worth. St. James is the hub, but the rest of the area is very involved and it seems like each of the neighboring communities expands the show every year.

And there is, of course food and drink for all ages. Comfortable shoes, sun or rain hat, jackets or fans - dress for the weather. The setting is beautiful. Lots of trees. Lots of historic buildings. Central Park. A couple of walking courts. And some really nice people making a living selling art.

Parking can be a chore, but you can ride your bike or take the bus and avoid the hassle. Lots of good restaurants are close if you need a break and a sit down meal before wading back in. It's a three day show so check the weather and block out your time.

Coming to St James Art Fair is an annual tradition - so much so that JCPS cancels school for the day. When I don't attend, I even feel out of sorts. Die hards of this art fair attend in rain, heat or freezing temperatures. Nothing compares to hundreds of vendors gathering in one spot, made even better because food trucks and drink stations are abundant too. (You must find the noodles!!! Look for the huge wok and pull out your wallet.)

Can you bring kids? Yes, but it's tough especially when you have a stroller. The crowds get thick and people will mutter things about you under their breath. We've done it both ways but it's always more enjoyable to do this event adults only.

Will you buy anything? I rarely do. Things are expensive and don't make sense in my house. I'm not one to buy a bunch of jewelry. But, it will never deter me from attending and looking for gifts or that one special item.

Parking is difficult and more than likely you'll have to pay a group for a close spot. Regardless, you should wear comfortable shoes. You're going to cover a lot of area.

Where you go to get your art on. With roughly a bajillion other people!

      Three days long.
      Basically shuts down Old Louisville.
      Good luck finding parking.
Hope for good weather so you can enjoy the out of doors.
Or hope for bad weather so the crowds will be thinner and perhaps you'll be able to move more than 6 inches at a time.
Enjoy traditionally bad festival type food.
Or enjoy some local food trucks or restaurant booths.
Look at all the art that costs more than a mortgage payment.
Buy a piece of art that is in your price range.

Be nice. Be kind. Be patient. Have fun.
It isn't truly fall until St James happens...so celebrate it!
