Attended a play here today and enjoyed the set up & performance.

The parking garage that is attached takes you directly into the lobby which is nice for avoiding rain. It was only $10 to park and they had a person operating parking rather than rely on the machines.

The theater is nice and there truly isn't a bad seat in the house. The seats themselves are decently wide compared to some older theater seats.

The attendants were nice and it was a quick and easy process to get in with the scannable tickets. I am looking forward to returning for another performance.

It's been years since I've been back here!

We parked in their garage because you can easily take the elevator down to the ticket booth. Parking is $10, but its worth it!!

I enjoy the plays here. Lots of talented actors and the theater itself is nationally recognized.

Bathrooms were a bit old school...

There's a bar in the mezzanine with a few options but it does the job.

One area featured art. Very cool!

Can't wait to see another play!

While I haven't been a good local patron lately, I consider Actors a gem in the city. Years ago as a college student I used to volunteer as an usher, which let me see several seasons of theatre. The Christmas Carol was an annual family tradition for locals, then came Gift of the Magi and now Dracula.

Actors holds 3 theaters, all unique in size and vibe. The Pamela Brown is the largest and most traditional with 2 levels. The Bingham is round and doesn't have a bad seat, nor does the intimate Victor Jory. It has an attached garage and restaurant downstairs. Street parking may also be available.

Check out their website to learn about season tickets, rush tickets, behind the scenes events and costume sales.

The Victor Joy is a more intimate theatre, but with comfy chairs. Never a bad seat!

Went to see the opening performance of this years Dracula. I've never been to this location before and was pleasantly surprised by the stadium seating and the smallness of the theatre itself. It is very quaint and I don't see where there is a bad seat in the house. I enjoyed the surrounding seating and the ability to see and hear so well. The staff was so friendly and professional and probably volunteering which in itself says a lot for this venue.
The performance of Dracula was nothing short of amazing and the actors in my opinion could of gotten Oscars for their performances.
I am so looking forward to going to another presentation at the Actors Theatre in not to distant future. Not only the theatre but the play Dracula was just what the doctor ordered.

Actors Theatre has always been a staple to the Louisville community providing wonderful productions that many, including myself, look forward to every year. This year, after missing their annual productions for a couple of years due to Covid, I looked forward to the return of one of their greatest productions, Dracula. My family and I have made this a tradition and have attended for several years.
They've adapted a new story line for Dracula promoting a biased, political agenda. It's not entertainment but their attempt to promote their beliefs. We would like to be entertained and to attend a play that my family looks forward to every year.
We won't be wasting our money on this pathetic rendition that has zero to do with Dracula. If you're attempting to lower your attendance then you've succeeded.

Actors Theatre of Louisville is awesome! I've attended both plays and events in this space and it's always been great. The decor is beautifully done in the original colors with gold leaf accents and magnificent light fixtures. The lobby is my favorite part, the ceiling is gorgeous!

Actors hosts shows, events, and festivals, including the Humana Festival of New American Plays, which is an annual showcase of new theatrical work. This is such an awesome event, and Actors is an amazing supporter of the theatrical arts for hosting it.

They also have visual art throughout the lobbies, so they promote that as well as theatrical arts.

During shows and events they have a bar open, and there's also the option of food and drinks from Milk Wood downstairs, which I highly recommend.

If you're a fan of theatre I highly recommend checking out Actors. One of my favorite things each year is seeing Dracula during the Halloween season. It's so good!

I have always enjoyed myself at Actors Theatre over the years. If you like the theatre, then you will likely find this local one to be quite satisfactory. Smaller than Kentucky Center for the Arts and larger than the Bunbury, I think Actors has the perfect size. It's very quaint without feeling too homey.

This last visit was to see A Christmas Carol, and we sat on the first row of the balcony. It was perfect, especially for a short person that hates having to look over top of some tall person's head. The play was a bit different from years ago, yet we thoroughly enjoyed it. The actors did a nice job, although there was a bit of artistic license taken in the writing and production. The deviation didn't shatter me, as I'm not a Dickens purist, but if one was, I could see it possibly being a bit of a disappointment.

The parking was paid for in advance with the tickets purchase, which is easy and convenient. The parking deck is tight and made for those concerned about climate change and not the gas-guzzling land barge SUV we were in. We found a spot on an end, hugged the edge, and tried to prevent some Prius from dinging the doors. It all worked out. The staff and ushers were all pretty nice. The venue was clean and the seats were comfortable enough, especially considering their age. I look forward to returning again.

      A Christmas Carol (2019): a great performance.

      Updated review

UPDATE: My last review for Actors was in 2014. I had been there numerous times then and I've been back numerous times since. That review? WAS ONLY TWO PARAGRAPHS! Actors Theatre deserves so much more than that.

We have many places to see live theatre in this city and you should absolutely give them all a shot. When I hear about someone that has lived here their entire life and they've never been to Actors... I'm always a bit surprised. Eh... I understand some people don't love theatre but there are great stories being told at Actors every year. Maybe you don't want to subscribe to a season pass... that's fine but you should at least see one or two shows a year.

There are many things to do downtown for entertainment. Out of them all, I think Actors is at the top of my list. My first show here was sometime around 2007 and I've been going back ever since. It started by seeing two or three shows a year. Over the past few years, that has morphed in to being a season pass holder. Fun fact: They have a 35 and under 50% discount on season tickets! Take advantage of that while you can!

Now I'll admit... there are some plays that I don't like. The plays I love always outweigh the ones that I don't like. In the end, none of that matters because almost all of them are thought-provoking in some way.

Actors Theatre is comprised of three different spaces. All of them unique in their own way. If I had one peeve, it would probably be that some of the spaces could use some minor renovations. While sometimes the seating area can seem cramped, there's not a bad seat in any of the spaces.

If you don't like theatre, I don't think any review could convince you to go but you owe it to yourself to visit. If you don't want to do the typical play experience, fine. At least visit for one of the seasonal plays... being covered in blood at the end of Dracula might make you a theatre believer. I do wish they still performed A Christmas Story. They used to do it every year and that play was a fun one to watch. A couple of years ago they cut it in favor of A Christmas Carol and Santaland Diaries.

The last thing to highlight would be the Humana Festival. The festival puts a spotlight on the city. That's not even mentioning how it has been going on for 43ish years now!

I could live without sports at the Yum. I could live without certain restaurants downtown. I could even live without the Kentucky Center and all the musicals that roll through. Actors Theatre is one thing that I couldn't live without. It is one of my favorite things in the city.

If you are expecting a full carol singing cast, this is not it. The 2022 Actors Theatre production of the Christmas Carol is a faithful reading of the classic by a very talented actor in character which was well done. Does the big screen animation of the Ghosts take away from the production, yes. Is this the Christmas Carol we are used to for the last 40 years? No. But shame on the 50 or so people who left during the performance!! It was 80 minutes long, if it wasn't your favorite show if the year you still could have stayed. The performer was giving a heartfelt rendition of this story and you stood up and walked out. Bad behavior!!

The venue is absolutely gorgeous. 90% of the time the plays are incredibly well done.
I have unfortunately had one bad experience there and it was recently. I didn't stay around for the second part of the show because there was nothing about it that was worthy of the title that was being portrayed-which is so odd because for at least a decade I've always been enchanted by that particular piece. I want to chalk it up to personal preference. We will of course be back for next year's viewing assuming they use a different actor because he did nothing for the main character. I am intentionally leaving off the title of the play and I am intentionally reviewing this much later because I don't want to throw shade on the place itself. It's just that I did not like this particular rendition of the play that we saw it was completely beneath what they've done in the past.
