Amy Badorf Named New Director of Athletics and Recreation

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University Vice President for Student Development and Engagement, Patricia Canterino, has announced the hiring of Amy Badorf as the Director of Athletics and Recreation Wednesday afternoon. Current Director of Athletics and Recreation, Janelle Cronmiller, has been promoted to Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Immaculata University and will assume her new role upon Badorf's arrival.

"Immaculata University is pleased to welcome our new Director of Athletics and Recreation, Amy Badorf," Immaculata University President Barbara Lettiere said in a statement. "She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in both NCAA administration and compliance, and we are happy to have her join and lead the Immaculata Athletics program."

Cronmiller's tenure will be remembered for her department's success both on and off the field as the Mighty Macs captured a pair of conference championships - the 2018 Colonial States Athletic Conference Softball Championship and, most recently, the 2019 Atlantic East Women's Tennis Conference Championship – marking the first Atlantic East title in the institution's history.

Additionally, Cronmiller played a leading role in overseeing the addition of four new varsity sports during the 2018-19 academic year - men's and women's swimming, men's volleyball and women's golf – that bolstered the profile of Immaculata Athletics as the department transitioned into the newly-formed Atlantic East Conference. Cronmiller also lent hand in the supervision of the planning and installation of the new track facility at Draper Walsh Stadium in addition to a complete overhaul of the Alumnae Hall Fitness Center, a pair of projects expected to be completed by the start of the Fall 2019 semester.

In her nine seasons as the head coach of the Mighty Mac women's lacrosse program, Cronmiller amassed 78 victories – the most of any head coach in the history of the program – while also overseeing 47 all-conference selections during her time at the helm.

Badorf joins the Immaculata staff with a wealth of experience at both the NCAA Division I and II levels, beginning with her time as a student-athlete and graduate assistant at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and most recently her return to the Pittsburgh area as the Director of Eligibility Compliance at the University of Pittsburgh.

"It is an incredible honor to accept the Director of Athletics and Recreation position at Immaculata University," said Badorf. "I am grateful to President Barbara Lettiere, Vice President Patty Canterino and the search committee for the opportunity to lead this athletic department. There is tremendous pride in the blue and white, and we will work extremely hard to make our alumni, community and University proud."

"We are excited Amy will be joining the Immaculata team," Canterino remarked. "It was clear that Amy understands and appreciates the positive role intercollegiate athletics plays on our campus.  We welcome Amy to Immaculata and look forward to the vision and leadership she will bring to campus."

During her six years as the Director of Eligibility and Compliance at Pitt, Badorf acted as the direct liaison for the University of Pittsburgh registrar and admissions offices, the university's colleges and deans, and the NCAA Eligibility Center. Additionally, Badorf was responsible for the initial eligibility and waiver process for the student-athletes while also monitoring athletic financial aid processes. Furthermore, she provided comprehensive NCAA Rules Education programming to new athletic department staff while also monitoring - and providing education on - the camps and clinics hosted by Pitt Athletics. Badorf also assisted in the game day ticketing process for Pitt basketball and football contests.

Prior to her tenure at Pitt, Badorf served as the Assistant Director of Compliance at The Ohio State University. Badorf was the direct compliance contact for a number of Olympic sport programs, including fencing, golf, rowing, rifle and pistol for the Buckeyes, which comprised approximately 200 student-athletes. She was also counted on to draft and submit various NCAA and Big Ten eligibility waivers for her assigned sports in addition to reviewing and approving all donation requests for each respective program.

Badorf has also enjoyed a highly successful stop at Division II Slippery Rock University as the Assistant to the Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator. In this role she oversaw the compliance certification of over 500 student-athletes in addition to the successful completion of all other NCAA compliance mandates as set forth in the Division II manual. Additionally, Badorf served as a sport administrator for 17 athletic programs at the Rock and monitored and reported monthly Title IX information to the Women's Law Project, for which she served as the direct liaison for.

A 2006 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, Badorf was a four-year member of the Crimson Hawks women's volleyball team that reached four-consecutive NCAA Atlantic Region Tournaments and helped lead IUP to a PSAC title in 2002. In July of 2007, Badorf earned her Master of Science in Sports Management from IUP.

Badorf is scheduled to assume her duties as Director of Athletics and Recreation on August 19.
