Roger Federer was scheduled to arrive in Paris on Tuesday, according to his trainer, Pierre Paganini, and will practice before he makes a decision about whether to play the French Open. Federer withdrew from the Madrid Masters two weeks ago with a back problem, and lost in the third round of last week's Rome Masters to Dominic Thiem, appearing not fully fit.

Federer has played a record 65 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments.

"I see my chances as not great to have the most unbelievable run, but if maybe in three, four days I can practice 100 percent for next week, then I believe that something is possible again," Federer said last week.

Paganini spoke to local media on the grounds of Geneva, where he is working this week with Stanislas Wawrinka.

Meanwhile, there could be another potential item on Federer's schedule as French president Francois Hollande recorded a video message inviting the Swiss to appear on TV station Europe 1. Following an interview appearance, Hollande agreed to join the station's campaign to get the 17-time Grand Slam champion on its show.

"I am on Europe 1 -- you are waited for," said Hollande to Federer. "You would get a very good reception."
