Rate this book
Kamali Danladi has sworn never to get married again. But his meddling mother is bent on hitching him to any eligible female that comes along to the next family gathering. There's only one thing for it. Get fake-hitched to his executive assistant. If anyone is more averse to marriage than he is, it's her. So they'll be perfect together. Or at least, they'll fake perfect together. Ebun Forson doesn't do families. She certainly doesn't do festivities. So when she has to spend a week playing fiancée to her boss, how is she going to cope with the extensive Danladi kinsfolk without breaking out in hives? Her next shopping trip funded by the bonus he's giving her should more than make up for the inconvenience. However, she soon finds the real threat is to her heart. The dark and intense Kamali behaves as if he sees through to her soul, making her almost forget that this is all an act. In any case, someone with a past like hers doesn’t deserve a happy ever after, surely. Bound to Favor is a story about learning to heal from emotional pain and finding love in the most unexpected places.

Loved it! This is the Kiru Taye I fell in love with. Engaging storyline, authentic and Nigerian. Great chemistry between Danladi and Ebun. Brings back the feelings I had when I read the Essien series by this Author.
I absolutely recommend 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I really liked this book! It’s probably my favourite in the series so far. Like the preceding books in the series, it’s incredibly emotional and mental health issues and trauma play a significant role in the character’s lives. I think one thing that makes me prefer this to the previous books in the series is the fact that this is a simpler story with less high drama elements which leaves room to focus on the characters and the plot.

The premise of this is that buttoned up Ebun is the executive assistant to straight-laced Kamali, but underneath, she’s consumed by unrequited lust for him. However, dealing with abandonment issues herself and unaware of Kamali’s trust issues after a disastrous first marriage, she sees no path to being with her dream man. When they randomly meet outside the office, for the first time they’re able to be real with each other and Kamali talks Ebun into doing him a massive fake relationship favour.

This is romance of the fake relationship variety. I really enjoyed the storytelling and the authenticity to the considerations of powerful people negotiating a multicultural marriage in Nigeria. I felt Ebun’s emotional pain and really was almost in tears on her behalf considering how much betrayal and abandonment she went through. I felt similarly about Kamali, even though he couldn’t help himself being from a patriarchal society and saying some dirtbag things, but he always redeemed himself and his loyalty, love and support for Ebun was for me never in doubt. Once again things took a bit of a creepy turn with Ebun’s stalkery behaviour and Kamali asking Ebun to make an impossible decision, but other than a couple of lung-emptying gasps, that did not detract from how much I enjoyed this novel. Expect high emotion and great storytelling from this with only a few hiccups from typos and continuity. Once again, in this book, TW apply for self-harm, revenge p0rn, abandonment by a parent and suicide. Highly recommend this one. To me, the best in the series so far.

Can I just start by saying that I'm so glad that Ms Taye is continuing with the Bound series.

This is a series that explores the complexities of humanity and human relationships. And like with previous books in the series, she delivered again.

Ebun has a family phobia and with good reasons. Yet, she craves the acceptance of family.

Kamali is a man grounded in family and to quote him, separating his from his family would be like "cutting his arm off". But he doesn't want to get married again.

So what happens when these two have to play at being engaged?

Of course, deeply repressed emotions come to play.

It was absolutely beautiful watching the self-discovery and personal growth of both characters. And of course, when they did get together they sizzled.

But of course, getting to HEA is not always easy or smooth and there are a few surprises on the way.

This is a beautiful story that made me sigh with pleasure several times. I really cannot wait to get the next book in the series.

Great book

I was one of you ace team reader. I live this book. I think this is you best work with all the twist and turn. Ebun though she was not Worthy of any thing due to her father walk out of her life. I love how this stories came together. I was in so Impress how kamali can to love ebun and I love how the stories end . Kamali through that ebun was going to pick her father over him . Kamali was so afraid that he was going to lose her and he was so graceful how ebun safe his daughter. Hope there will be a second book to see if kamali and ebun will have a relationship with her father and her brother. Keep the good work up. One of you ace reader

Good Book

Kamali and Ebun had a strong attraction to each other from the beginning but they fought it because she was his assistant. Due to a turn of events, they ended up in a position to explore their attraction and falling deeply in love. It was a shocker that Toyin and Ebun were half sisters but it turned out to be a good thing since Fari ended up needing a blood transfusion with a rare blood type. I'm glad everything worked out in the end for them.

The secretary playing the fiancée is played out now but Kiru introduced multi-layers of genuine talking points in the African culture into the plot. Bringing together two different characters (Kamali is family-oriented while Ebun has daddy issues, they also have cultural differences) and finding an acceptable middle ground was well done. This is book 4 in the Bound series by Kiru Taye. Having read two of the preceding books, I was eager to get my hands on this one.

Abandoned by her father, Ebun is a woman who's been forced to live with feelings of lack of self-worth. She's spent her life as if on the outside looking in, especially when it comes to pining for her boss. Fate intervenes when said boss makes her an offer she can't refuse.

Except that love gets in the way. Despite some hot sex scenes, Kamali and Ebun's romance is sweet. For fans of the series, this story thrusts us further into the Danladi clan and we see more of the family dynamics and history.

Kamali is proud and principled (and old-fashioned) to a fault, which makes it so significant when his love for Ebun is tested in the most heartbreaking way. He learns to rise above his pride and pain to claim his woman and heal her with his love. He's easily one of my favourite heroes in the series.

My main issue with this story was that the aftermath of a trauma the heroine had endured wasn't fully dealt with (explaining will involve spoilers #sorrynotsorry).

That said, I enjoyed this story very much. Both main and secondary characters are strong. I hope Ebun's brother gets a story.

Fell in love with Kamali and Ebun. You can't help it as their story unravels. Loved it so much. So real- every emotion is felt, and you can't help but root for them on their journey of self discovery and love. Kiru keeps out doing herself and this is just another cherry on a fantastic cupcake!
