Misplaced snobbery - Same horse, different surface at Lingfield Park

With a mixed card at Lingfield Park tomorrow, a card we will get involved in, in its entirety, and no All Weather racing taking place today I thought I would take the opportunity to get something of my chest that really grinds my gears.

All to frequent we hear those derogatory comments made regarding the quality of racing on the All Weather even from those largely dependent on it in the media, only to turn turtle on those bad weather days of winter when they boast of being the only show in town.

couldn't help but notice that among the entries on tomorrows Lingfield Park card there are no fewer than 7 runners that HAVE NOT appeared on the All Weather. I have no doubt that this card (or the Turf races at least) will be viewed in a different light than an All Weather meeting. Same horse, different surface!

Isn't it time that this snobbery stopped. If a finger should be pointed at low grade racing it should be pointed at British racing in general and not at the All Weather.

With Great Leighs likely to come back to the fold in 2014 At The Races will be covering 4 of the 5 All Weather tracks and I am sure that they were grateful to have Southwell rather than no live racing yesterday afternoon.

Perhaps they can find a filter to fit on to the camera lens that makes the sand appear green in the belief that it will also enhance the performances of the horses!
