Stephen A. Smith Suggested Kareem Hunt Is Playing This Weekend And, My God, WTF Has Happened To Him?

Stephen A. Smith has literally made me speechless. The ESPN personality and reporter is one of the most recognizable figures in sports media, but, after his latest blunder, it may be time to give the man some time off — because Smith’s mind seems to be fried right now.

While Stephen A.’s specialty isn’t football — he’s more of a basketball guy — the fact that he’s paid lots and lots of money by ESPN to at least know a little bit about the sport and players means he should do a little bit of research. And, when Smith made the mistake of thinking that a Los Angeles Chargers player was suiting up in a game earlier this season, even though he has been on Injury Reserve all year, many though this accidental stuff was just a one-time thing.

As it turns out, though, Stephen A. Smith was just getting started with that whole Chargers blunder, because, just yesterday on his podcast, the dude suggested that Kareem Hunt was playing this weekend — in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! You know, the same Hunt who’s currently a free agent and is in seriously hot water over that whole assault video in a Cleveland hotel in the spring of last year. Plus, WTF, Stephen A., Hunt has never even played in the NFC.

Take a look at the video of Stephen A. Smith dropping Hunt’s name below.

Can somebody please explain to me what is going on with Stephen A. Smith’s mind these days? It’s one thing to get confused about a player now and again, but to drop the name Kareem Hunt — and suggest that he’s suiting up this weekend — is as rookie a mistake as I’ve ever seen. It blows my mind, actually.

Of course, there were some reactions from Twitter about this whole thing, so let’s take a look at some of the A+ ones — because everyone seems to enjoy laying into Stephen A. Smith.

In the words of Brian Fantana from Anchorman, “maybe you should take it easy, champ. Why don’t you stop talkin’ for awhile.” Stephen A. seems like he could use a few minutes to catch his breath, gather his thoughts and read some info before speaking again.
