LIHEAP

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

What help is available?

We will be taking applications for the 2023–2024 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) beginning October 1, 2023 through April 30, 2024. Those eligible to apply include households with elderly members age 60 or older, or have a family member who is disabled. Applications for all other income-eligible households will begin Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Your household may be able to receive a one-time payment for your utility bill if you meet income guidelines. Assistance level depends on income level, family size, the type of fuel you use to heat your home and other factors. If you heat your home with liquid propane (LP), you can qualify to receive a delivery of propane through this program.

If you have received a disconnection notice or if you are disconnected from your power source, we may have funding to assist you. Please read below for more information on how to contact us and apply for assistance.

Weatherization Assistance Program

Weatherization Assistance Program

What help is available?

Weatherization is a program established to help reduce the heating and cooling costs for low-income people – particularly the elderly, disabled and children – by improving the energy efficiency of their homes, thereby reducing the household’s energy bills.  This component works to tighten and insulate homes against the elements and to assure the safety of appliances by providing health and safety checks, appliance replacement, home insulation, minor repairs and client education. IMPACT partners with Polk County Public Works and Mid-Iowa Community Action (MICA) to provide Weatherization services to all of our service counties.
